Hello everyone,

I have seen these "chew toys" at the local pet food supplier store in ottawa. There are 4 per package, in different shapes, Carrot, lettuse, apple and i can't remember the last one. They are colored according to the veggie. I cant remember what they are made of but it states that they are for "small animals" Was wondering if anyone knows if they are safe for Piggies.

Oh yeah and what about "mineral treats" I've seen them in the shape of carrots.

Thanks

Stay away from mineral treats. Piggies dont need them. The chew toys are fine although my piggies are not interested in them. You can try them though. Try the apple branches if you see those. Mine love the bark on them. I give them alfalfa cubes or cakes or whatever shapes they come in now as a treat. They love those also.

Thank you very much. I haven't bought them yet. I am going shopping this afternoon for more veggies and thought i'd take a look at them, but wanted a more experianced cavy slave's opinion first. thank you again

Mine ignore any wood chew toys we ever gave them so we don't bother anymore. They are much more interested in chewing on their hidey houses and cardboard boxes.

Like Pennick said...no mineral treats or licks.

To each thier own. All of my piggies love the wooden veggie shaped treats and the holder you can get for them (the ones I have come with a hole in the middle for sliding them on a metal holder.)

My boar loves to ring the bell on the bottom all night. Just to let us know he's happy :p Why can't he be happy during the day?

My girls aren't all that interested in toys (except the chews) but my little boar loves toys. He loves his cardboard tunnel and his little jingly cat ball (he like to play with that at night too.) He also loves his hedgehog (its a stuffed animal ment for dogs) The girls were indiffernet to it (unless you put it in a pigloo. Then Sakura chatters at it and kicks it out of *her* pigloo) so I threw it in his cage. He thinks it's his wife or something. Other then trying to mate with it, he also pushes it around the cage and sleeps next to it. He also plays fetch with it on the bed. He pushes it off the bed, then wheeks at us untill we pick it up for him to push off all over again.
