So are you vegan or vegetarian? You can get cheese that is suitable for vegetarians with non animal rennet; papa john’s pizza cheese is suitable for vegetarians apparently. I have been vegetarian for most of my life on and off early on but I haven't touched meat or meat products now for 7 years. I just wish that American food manufacturers would adopt the British vegetarian symbol that is placed on all vegetarian foods in the UK.

I am wanting to swich to non-dairy products like going to soy milk and stuff. The movie was so sad. 2 or my friends and I watched the movie together and they are both becoming vegans now like me. One of them drinks an egg shake every day but they don't get the eggs from the store they know a lady who has chikens who they get eggs from. The chikens are very well cared for they have 10 or somthing like that in a huge yard as big as my friends front yard which is huge.

Treen-are you a vegetarian/vegan right now? I got confused and didn't get it.

Thanks for sharing, Treen! I feel the same way about the animals being treated right, then there would be no problem. The thing is, it isn't right for us to torture these animals. I would have no problem eating them if I knew they were properly taken care for and humanely killed.

MyBabyMu, Treen is a vegetarian. She just explained that if you're vegetarian, you're still contributing to some slaughter, etc. and that she wasn't ready to be a vegan yet.

Thanks for sharing the video! This is awesome, I had no idea so many people felt the same way I do about this. Thanks, it really helps!

Ok I think we should a vegitarian logfor people trying to become vegetarians or who are vegetarians. That way we can write down what we eat once in a while so other people can post food ideas or recepies that vegetarians can use. I will start a new thread, for it if people think this sounds ok.

This afternoon I had a salad-A feista taco salad from Taco Bell without the meat
Dinner I had spagetti with sause a salad (nuts, lettuce, carrots, umm I think that is all), brocolli, carrots, and milk

I'm still not a vegan, vegetarian though

Tina, before today how long has it been since you've eaten meat?

Oh yeah, granola is such good stuff!

Tina, you can do it! Whenever I get the faintest liking for meat, I think of the videos on peta. That makes the appetite go away. Today is TWO WEEKS! YAY!

And... the funny part is, we still don't have any fake meat or anything. I looked for veggie burgers, and they didn't even have those. Sad.

I need to find a store for veggies.

I've also never tried this before. I'm taking vitamins daily now, and we have some calcium supp.s as well. If you don't want to drink milk, just take one each day. Even if you think you're getting enough vitamins and stuff, just starting out I think it's a great idea to use a multivitamin daily. You never know how much you're getting for sure.

2 weeks... how many hours is that? 14x24... 196!!! Wow. I'm proud of myself.

Even though it's not true veggie, since I'm eating fish. I can't just cut it out without having a fake meat, though, because I run so much! I need the protein, that's really hard for me right now. Fish is tasting deader and deader to me though. I mean, you know it's dead all the time, but unless you pay attention it doesn't hit you. Since now I don't eat fish too often, I can't really say it tastes all that good.

Did you know that babies don't like meat? It tastes dead to them. I think that's the way it should be.

I didn't know that. I have no idea how long it has been for me, but I think it has been over 390 hours. Go me.

It wasn't hard for me to give up meat-I hardly ate any in the first place.

Wow, thats fantastic baby mu and mn. I think I'm going to start today. I made my mum buy lots and lots of quorn (meat substitue). I'm a veggie on sundays anyway, so 6 more days during the week won't hurt. lol.

Are you intending to go the whole way, no leather goods? No leather shoes, bags, coats, etc? This is often a tricky one trying to find good quality shoes that are not leather.

I stopped eating beef and pork when I was a sophmore in High School (9 years ago). Not eating poultry at the time was hard, my parents always had meat of some kind for dinner. I struggled at the time with an eating disorder too, which made me have low blood sugar. I'm so much better now, and living in a big city has made it easier for me to attempt going Vegan. I started 3 months ago...I'm switching over gradually, I only eat fish and shell fish now. I'm trying to stop eating those too, along with Cheese and eggs. I'm not really a fan of eggs anyways...yuck! but I LOVE CHEESE! That will be hard to give up. And I hate Milk anyways...I read on the Peta site that it has puss in it =( that's disgusting! I drink/use 8th continent soy milk...It's really good. and they make chocolate and vanilla also. The Fake ground beef is great! I made tacos with it last night =)
