I got my guinea pig about a week ago so I am still kind of new at this. Today I was lightly brushing my guinea pig on my lap. Every time I would brush him he made this purring noise and his whole body shook. He never did that before, is that a sign that he is enjoying it or not. He wasnt trying to get away from me or anything either. But I put him back in he cage he went straight for his little house.

He is ok

That means he likes it my guinea pig does that its like when you are patting a cat it purrs

hehe

First time my pigs did that I thoguht he was about to bite me or something. As long as it isn't running away from you or trying to get away, or crying, he's liking it pretty well. I think every pig runs back to it's hiding hole when you're done playing. Their cage is it's safety area. My pigs HATE being taken out of their cage, but once they realize it's floor time, they are great! They eat their veggies and squeak and popcorn and play a piggy "follow the leader." Yet they are always eager to go back in their cage. I guess they feel safe to be "at home." I've had my pig about as long as you have, eventually they might realize that lap/floor time = fun time! And not dread comming out.

Any time I pick up or pet or brush Amy she does that. It is a good sign! That is what I look for to know that she is happy.

Guinea pigs that are purring are happy piggies! Mine purrs whenever I pet him. It's a great thing! =)
