I have a young Pig taken from a home that didn't want him. The prior owner thinks he is pretty young but can't be sure. I'm pretty new at this and have done a lot of reading but haven't found an answer for this one...

After having him for a couple of months now, his scrotum parts never really looked that obvious until just recently. In the last week or two, they seem to have grown and, well...sagged to the point they almost look like they drag behind him while he runs around.

Is that normal? I've checked the area and it doesn't seem to have any discharge or cause any discomfort. I'm guessing he might be just hitting maturity.

Sorry for what probably amounts to a silly question but...want to make sure the little guy is okay. Thanks...

Yes, completely normal

Hi:

From my experience in general each animal is different. Also, when they are young it is sometimes harder to determine the sex. I have seen guinea pigs that have a relatively large (what I call package) and others that appear normal. Your pig has probably reached maturity.

Thanks. Figured as much but...

Sounds normal to me! My pigs drag their 'package' around too...

Same here--seems like it's alright to me! :) No question is silly; it's better to ask than not!

Does he do it all the time? If he just does that dragging a bit, then he's "scenting". My pig, Carrot, does that.
