Some chunks of uhaul pad are coming off, so would sewing a cage liner help since the uhaul would be inside the fleece?
Also, I know people do fleece on top and bottom then uhaul in the middle, but since fleece is kind of expensive, and being a teenager,
could I do fleece on top, uhaul in the middle, then another type of cloth for the bottom?
I wouldnt even bother with a bottom, but I'd rather the u haul be completely covered so it holds up.
Also, how many layers of u haul pads, 1 or 2? thanks!:D

I have fleece on two sides and one layer of uhaul pad in the middle. I still put a single layer of uhaul pad under the fleece pads. I wash the uhaul padding on the normal, and not heavy duty wash cycle so they don't fall apart.

Would having a fleece pad protect my u haul pad then just layering the fleece over the pad?
And can I use a different fabric for the bottom?

I think the fleece pads protect the uhaul inner layer. Stitch across the middle both ways to hold all three layers in place after you stitch the sides. You could use a different fabric for the bottom but I use fleece on both sides so I can flip the pads and have a fresh top layer.

I'm still using the same uhaul pads I bought and reviewed in October of 2010.. I haven't had any issues, and they still almost look like they did when I bought them, but some people have suggested that there are bad batches. I am going to buy new ones soon, only because we're building a new giant cage and need bigger pads. I will report back.

Quick question, when you flip the pad do you get extra time out of it, like more than a week? Or is this something you do mid-week to freshen it up?

My cages are all c & c 2x4's and each houses a pair of guinea pigs. I flip the pads to get more use out of them but I still launder my fleece frequently since they live in my dining room and I'm really particular about odors. I know that there are a lot of people on here who have larger cages that don't change the bedding as often. I usually launder after 3 days, sometimes 4. The fleece on the side of their hay bins tends to get messier so sometimes I launder that one and wait to do the other one. (I have two fleece pads per cage. I did that so I can clean one half at a time without taking the guinea pigs out. They just hop over to the other side as I clean one side.)

Gotcha, that's basically what I do as well right now when I do cleanings is just move them over to the other side. I was thinking of doing the double sided fleece to see if I could get a bit more use out of them. My cages are basically two 3x4's with a 1x2 joining area in the middle so was thinking maybe for the more higher traffic areas if just flipping it over would make it get a bit more use out of it before washing or at least maybe a bit more sanitary. I currently clean the messier areas (hay box and sleep area which is about 2x4 area total) every day so I'm thinking maybe every two or three days would be nice. I'm paranoid about odors too so I wash on the 7th day exactly even though everybody says they don't smell lol.

Thanks for the help :)
