A few days ago, a very lovely brave lady rescued 24 guinea pigs.

She knew the family who owned them, remembered when they had gotten two *males* from a pet shop.....she was horrified to see that they were breeding, covered in cuts and dandruff from mites and living ontop of 4 inches of their own pooh.

She cleaned their cage. Went back the next day, there were four new babies...feed them, went back the next day and there were now seven babies. She contacted us, asking if we could please please help as she couldn't find anyone else. We said, we'll take the guineas in.

She took the guineas. Told the owners, who said..okay, but leave two for the kids. Of course they didn't leave two as they couldn't sex them and it started with two!!

Here is a picture of them here...in the left cage was 6 females and 8 babies, in the right 10 males;

We found a runt, only weighed in at 42 grams. We were very worried about her. Sadly the next day she started having seizures and we put her to sleep. Not very long after we came back from the vets, one of the very young little girls (I'd say 14 - 15 weeks old) gave birth to two girls. So baby number from the group up to 9.

Because of a pet shop selling a male and female to neglectful un-caring owners...we now have 10 males...8 of which are now at foster homes...6 females...two of which are still pregnant, 1 which is nursing and isn't pregnant...3 who are nursing and most likely pregnant as they were living with the males after they gave birth, and 9 little babies.

I've put pictures of all the new guineas up on the website, under In quarantine.

Please. Anyone who reads this and is wanting to buy from a pet shop or breeder. Rescue's are full with homeless guineas that they didn't breed or buy, they full with guineas that had no where else to go and needed help. Please adopt don't shop..they are living animals.
