Hello you can call me Ava, I adopted 2 boar guinea pigs (Percy and Cupcake) 1 week ago they're 3 weeks old. I had to seperate them a few days ago because Cupcake got a fungus and Percy attacked him till blood was drawn. I know this does not relate to trying to make a schedule but I feel like it is a necessary thing to add. Me and my family members give them veggies random times per day. Now they squeak for food at that diffrent times when I want them to get veggies at 6:30PM so that when I get gome from school when it starts I wuld be able to give them veggies, but since they are squeaking randomly I wont be able to give them anything beause I'm at school. So the advice I'm looking for is how do I train them to eat at a time i want when they are already squeaking for veggies at random times.

If you give them food and treats at specific times every day, they will very quickly learn that schedule. They will always wheek for food, that's just what they do. They're very food oriented. Every time I've introduced a new pig to my home, they'd adapted to their schedule very, very quickly, usually within a week. But if you always give them random treats all the time, they will always wheek.

They will also pick up on household sounds that will trigger wheeking. Plastic or paper crinkling will sound like food packages, the sound of the refrigerator door opening, and running water (washing off veggies) will cause them to wheek even if they don’t see you. Just stick to whatever schedule you can manage and make sure they have plenty of hay and water, some hiding places, and maybe some apple sticks or other safe items to chew if they get bored.

Thank you :)
