Veg*n trying to go vegetarian

Yes, b12 is a vitamin, brewer's yeast, you should be eating more of it because you don't get much of it without meat.

really?? does anyone else take this vitamin??

I don't - since I've been a vegetarian (nearly 7 months, woo!) I've never taken any extra supplements.

i didn't think i would have to take any extra vitamins. Do i have to eat more of another kind of food?

hey, ive been vegan for 4 days now and im lovin it! i remember my last glass of milk on the 7th and im not missing it too much, but i really need to go shopping vegan style heh heh heh i like that... vegan style boo bum buh dum lol sorry. but vegan is a challenge of will power for me and so far, no cheating! vegetarian was not hard for me at all so cold turkey vegan is good for me. im saving animals, my health, and testing my will. this is a great deal! and also, you feel much cleaner inside! piglet said that before
"It does feel so good without eating meat. I feel 'clean' inside, its great!"

and your very right piglet!

so good luck rust! dont give up!

Well done! I don't know if I could ever go fully vegan...However I will give it a go once when I'm not living with my parents.

my parents (or mom, my dad doesnt know yet) dont care and my mom said she would get some soy milk for me. and there is this energy drink that i found, i think it's "no fear" or something, but it has 1 carb, no sugar, and a TON of vitimens(sp?), especialy b12 so im going to get some, because it tastes good :)

Well today was my second day as a vegetarian and i am doing pretty good. Should i be taking nore b12 now? I am not really sure what i am suppose to be eating more of now that i don't have meat in my diet. Could someone please tell me?

B12 is hard to get from other sources. I think the only non meat/egg source is unwashed organic lettuce and as earlier mentioned brewer's yeast. I don't eat either and I have low blood iron so I take a multivitamin (the highest iron/B12 chewable yummy multivitamin I could find :)

If you are really good a dietary planning then you really don't need one, but I suck at planning my diet so I take one. I also have digestive issues so the doctor thought it would be a good idea, just in case.

Oh gosh, perhaps I should go to the doctor and get myself checked out? My diet is ok...now that I've given up fish too, I don't really eat that much. Mum said she's buy me those extra supplements but I don't know which ones I need.

All you NEED to do, like the major thing that's necessary is to find a good multivitamin that's made for vegetarians, this will also not include gelatin in the pill capsule if it's a swallow one. This will include everything you need. I don't really eat b12 either, just one thing I know we really can't make up much other places. It is in a good vitamin though. Also, some people say vegetarians crave salt more and don't absorb iron as well since the best source is through non vegetarian means. I don't know if I agree with that. My whole family is vegetarian, and my mom's doctor told her that as she too is very iron deficient.

oh! i just realised that i am eating less food than before! ive lost .8 lbs lol but i guess that i just would rather eat nothing when im not very hungry than veggies or fruits, and only eating when im hungry before vegan-94.9 now-94.1 thats...heh heh no clothes at 4:00 before eating anything. this is doing me good.

Anyone know a good multi vitamin i could get? I can swallow pills so i need something chewable. Thanks for all the info

Cavy-upstairs, you shouldn't be losing weight. Quickly eat something! Maybe if you are still growing, which I think you are, YOu sohuld consider not taking dairy out yet. Cage free eggs are a great source of protein. Cheese is good too. Pizza is good We live in the same state, did you know that?

I don't know any multivitamins off the top of my head, but I will tell you the one I take which is a swallow one; however, it's not difficult to do. It might come in a chewable form too. Note that many chewable vitamins, like flinstones, have gelatin in them which we cannot eat. I take formula v vm-75. Daily regimen, dietary supplement 60 vegetable capsules. Made by Solgar. I just basically retyped the front of the bottle.

what is wrong with gelatin? Is it meat?

Has horse hooves in it.

EEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! Thats what gelatin is? That is disguisting!!!

Yes, usually horse hoof or cattle skin and bones.

that is disgusting!!!!!!! and i was eating the flinstone vitamins before i am not going to anymore. I need to find a good chewable vitamin.

Yup, I always knew that gelatine was a by product of animals, but I only found out last week it was crushed bones! So many things have gelatine in them - sweets, crisps etc so make sure you read the ingredients.

If you want to get a check up from the doctor, they will have to take a blood test right?
