Any tips on trimming toe nails? My Turbo is just acting crazy!! He keeps biting me also... :(

I cant get a grip on him to trim his nails..

I wrap them in a towel, so the only thing sticking out is the little foot. Still, it's tricky. Someone else a while back said that they only do a couple nails at a sitting.

Someone (Piglet I think) put their pig on a tennis racket and get someone to hold it and clips what sticks through.

Keep cornstarch on hand to stop the bleeding should you accidently knick the vein. Also, you can have your vet do the first nail trimming, then the length should be managable for you to maintain. We use large human type nail clippers instead of the pet clippers. Towel will definately help with the biting, but they might always squeal like you're doing something more horrible than just a nail trim!

I know, and then I start to feel bad.. Like I am hurting him or something.. :(

LOL. That's his plan. He doesn't want good nail care, he wants to get down and play! Just wait until you hear the racket gps make during a bath!

I use a tennis racket. It's very handy actually. You'll need someone else to hold up the racket, & then you can easily trim away. It's the only way I can trim Phoebe's nails without her getting stressed.

2 people is the best way. One holds the piggies while the other trims.

Can you explain more?

If you stand the pig on top of the racket, the longest part of his toenails will poke through the small holes. Then you sit underneath the pig on the racket and clip the part that hangs through! So you need someone to hold the racket above your head and hold the piggy securely on top of it. Be sure to look for the dark part in the center of the nail, its called the quick, this is the part you want to avoid because it will bleed.

I trimmed my piggies nails last night for the first time. I'm sure it was his first nail trimming also. It took about an hour but wasn't too bad. I just put him on my chest so he could snuggle my neck and talked very soothing to him. We stopped inbetween each nail so as not to stress him or me. He did very well. The hardest part was getting ahold of his feet in the first place.

yeah my older one frisco is so calm and nice.. but turbo is being a brat. :( he keeps trying to bite me and wheek so loud

I'm going to have the vet trim Cali's nails first then I can watch. It's not going to be easy but I know it must be done.
