Mites Treatment Side Effects? Any experiences with this?

Spoonie had been scratching and biting himself and I took him to the vet two days ago. He's been treated for mites and I already notice that he's much livelier and not showing signs of pain when being held!

The vet said he's being treated with a cattle dewormer (she didn't tell me the name of the drug, but he gets a series of three shots for it), and I've noticed that he has been drinking a lot more in addition to peeing a lot more. Is this just a side effect of the med? I can imagine having those little biters dying off on you being a bit stressful on his body, so I'm guessing that he is just keeping himself well hydrated. Does this seem bizarre at all? Just wanted to check

It's probably ivermectin. Do you bring him back for multiple treatments? Sometimes a single injection will eliminate mites but for bad cases, they might need multiple visits. I'm not familiar with excessive drinking with ivermectin so maybe someone else can comment on that.
