We're going on vacation for a while and plan to have a friend of ours (a vet tech) take care of our two pigs. It's about a 1.5 hr drive and we're transporting our 3x3 C&C cage as well. I *think* the entire cage can fit into the back of our car (mazda 6 hatchback), so we could have the pigs in the cage while in the car.
If the entire cage fits in the car, should we leave the pigs in the cage or put them into a carrier or small cardboard box?

I'd put them in a smaller box or carrier, with soft towels in it. That way, sudden stops and hairpin curves won't send them flying.
Also, my boys don't like to be close together. If that's the case with yours, I'd give them separate boxes for traveling.

I agree w/Lauren - I just finished moving my menagerie cross-country, and I used a 24x18 pet-store cage for Toffee, so he had everything he needed but was still in a small enough space to be safe(r).

I would use a pet store cage or a few cat carriers. Line it with towels or fleece and put a layer of hay on top. All the water bottles I have leak HORRIBLY while in the car, but yours will be fine for 1.5 hours, unless it is really hot. Just offer wet veggies.

Unless your boys are really bonded I would transport them seperately.
