Okay, here's my question:

What do you put your pigs in to go to the vet? I once used a small cardboard carrier made for toting small animals around for the one solitaty trip my late, inheirted one needed, but i wondered if there was anything more convienient.:)

Thanks in advance...

~Cactus

I just make a 2x1 C&C carrier

Get yourself a cat carrier with the pop off lid. I carry all 4 of mine to the vet that way.

Thanks for your suggestions...(where do you buy...silly me! a pet store or Petco, of course!=)

I also just remembered that i have an old store-bought cage that i might use... i dunno...

Yep, a pet store cage would make a pretty good carrier

i have a cat carrier with a pop off lid. on the top, there is treat storage and a seat belt clip. i like it a lot. it is however on the smaller side (12" x 18") so i will only be suing it for short trips.

Don't buy at a pet store if you can help it, please! There are many reasons for this.

A cat carrier works well, but so does a 2x1 c and c cage. =)

im not sure if you implied that towards me or cactus, but i purchased my carrier from petfooddirect.com

I actually use a laundry basket with a flannel or fleece blanket on the bottom. It works well for my four ladies, and they have room to move around. But the cat carriers with the roof acsess works well too! I think petmate makes a pretty good one...if you can wait another month (or so) to get a carrier, occh is going to sell them on their website! An onlibe store!!! And they will have carriers! I'll let you know more when I hear anything.

when i go to pick up the girls next month, i will be taking my carrier, and the laundry basket.

oh yes, would i absolutely need to pad the bottom of the laundry basket with something?

It would be best. It will reduce sliding, bumpiness during the ride, and will soak up pee spills. =)

Oh, and that was more directed towards cactus, but thanks for answering!

ok, sorry, didnt know who you were asking

Oh no, that's fine. I should have written down who it was directed to. It's my fault.

oh, come on, its not anyones fault

The pet-store bought cage i have I did not purchase (i STOLE it! uh, NO.)--i inheirited it from a friend along with the pig. Now with cat carriers, i'm not very familiar about ANY pet stores in my area except Petco (that's okay, right? they mostly just sell supplies, anyway), just to calm your qualms about me buying from an irresponsible petstore that takes bad care of their piggies, mncavylover (no offense :)

No, wait, i DO know of a petstore nearby BUT my guinea pig friend told me their pigs aren't healthy, so i'm not going THERE.

I though PetCo was the really bad petstore

Petco is one of the worst. You can buy from on line stores. We have a large outdoor swapmeet buy us and there are 3 or 4 pet supply vendors. They don't sell animals and their prices are competitive.

Oh, i didn't know that. hmm. Well, as i said before, i'm naive when it comes to petstores. What sort of online stores? I've heard alot about the ferret store, but dunno where that is.

~Cactus

I think the ferret store is solely online (broken link removed)
