I almost had my mom convinced to let me get two piggies. She seemed close to saying yest until i told her that I would like to make a C&C cage. She thinks it's pointless and too much work.
-sigh-
I guess it's waiting until I move out, then.

I'm sorry to hear that. :( Good luck for the future!

Thank you.
I may be stubborn and try a different approach however.

Just make sure that you or your mom is able and willing to cover any medical costs of the pigs too.

You see, that is where I have that covered. I shall put away 20% of each cheque I receive to set aside for veggies, possible vet costs, etc.
So then she really doesn't need to help out.

That is a good idea. Here is a good thread for potential vet costs: (broken link removed)

Thanks.
That goes under my bookmarks.

Ah, don't ya love it? You sound like you are a responsible age (the movning out part), yet she still feels the need to make decisions for you. Mothers!:)

I know just how you feel, I had my heart set on two beautiful pigs I found in a classified, I had gotten pictures and exchanged info with the owner, was setting up my cage... and then it happened. My Dad said yes so long as I cared for them, but his girlfriend (who owns the house) said no. Just because my Dad had a fight with her daughter, she decided to take it out on me. I'm still feeling heartbroken, but hopefully when I move out (April-Julyish of next year) I can get a pair I love just as much. I'm really bummed, but I kind of set myself up, I hadn't even met them yet and I was already attached!

I would go ahead and buy the material you need to make a c&c cage. Make it and put it where you want it. Show her it isn't that bad and if she still says no, take it apart and keep it for when you move out!❤️

My dad didnt want to build a C&C cage when i told hime their store cage was way too small. So, I went to work. I made the design on the computer, found where all of the supplies were, and added together the cost. After he saw what I was doing he let in and we went to get the supplies. Just show how responsible you are and maybe your mom will change her mind.

Good Luck!

Thanks. I sent her a lengthy e-mail promising to be more diligent with at home responsibilities and whatnot, and she can decide in February if I've behaved well enough to get two. The point of that being me showing her I can stick to something for a long period of time(because keeping a piggy can be hard work what with the food preparations)and that it can benefit her as well(chore-wise)if she lets me get them. She doesn't need to care for them, she doesn't need to spend her money on veggies and vet expenses, as I have a job and I'll be setting money aside for them on a regular basis; and things of that sort.
She's still iffy.

Good luck; I hope your mum lets you adopt a pair of piggies sometime soon!

I say................BE STUBBORN! lol, thats what I did for 7 months, and look at me now! Im adopting 2 piggers in less than a month, and have a 3X4 C&C cage. You can do it!

i hope that it works out well for you - the thing is you have to remember that piggies are a lot of responsibility and although they are cute and fluffy they still need to be looked after in more ways than just fluffing up their fur. my two babies are hard work but i love hem so much i know that i couldn't be without them, but the trouble is arranging care when you want to go away on jaunts etc.... still you sound very responsible,, good luck!!!!
