So I really like this layout and I couldn't tell from the picture exactly how its done. Any advice, tips, ideas would be appreciated. :)

Here's the picture:

I personally have a one story C&C cage(cubes and coroplast). I bought my supplies from Bed Bath & Beyond (grid cubes) and Home Depot (coroplast). To build a two story C&C cage I would have no idea since I didn't build one but I can suggest you look for videos on youtube. I'm pretty sure there are many helpful videos showing you how to. Here is a video link of a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zt0g2EHNJc4 Good luck with your cage building!

Basically build the two cages, say 2x5. Turn them on their sides and connect with grids, you want to do both ends and one long side fully. They are showing but I am sure they have a support beam or two. Make sure you use 8" zip ties and lots, lots of them, use more than enough.

The double decker is similar to the cages I've had. This photo shows the frame without the bottom tray. I overlap the grids on the sides to make it extra sturdy and add an I-beam under the top level. The bottom cage is my current cage.

I can see that my top photo doesn't clearly show how to build it. You build two 2x3,2x4 or 2x5s and lay them on their sides. Attach a row of grids between the top of the bottom level to the bottom of the top level on one long end of the cage. Do the same on the short ends. You can add an extra grid in the front it you want. It's really easy. I add the I-beam at the end.

This is the I-beam I use.
