Sooo... Cosmo got a clean bill of health from the vet today - His infected lymph gland has shrunk. He's still on antibiotics, for a couple of weeks more.
We did the recommended "sofa treatment" for the meeting of the pigs.
Sarah held Timmy (1 yr. old) and I held Cosmo (2 or 3 mos?) on opposite sides of the sofa, with a towel between us. After an eternity (5 minutes?) they noticed each other, and came toward each other on the sofa.
Timmy lifted his head and chuttered his teeth. Cosmo shrank low and tried to crawl under him. After about a minute of sniffing, they both retreated to their corners. They had had enough.
A few hours later, we tried it again. Five minutes and that was enough for each of them. They ran and hid on our shoulders. I guess this is going to take time!

Maybe you could try introducing them during floor time. It's common for the teeth chattering. They have to decide who will be boss. I am so glad Cosmo is going so much better.

I am also glad cosmo is doing much better. Good luck

Thanks, Ly and Queen B ---
This is fascinating.

If they run away, leave them together for a while, If you do it in babysteps they have to start over everytime. (that happened to me) so it take longer. When you have a day where you can watch them for an hour or two you should introduce them. (It doesn't have to be super close monitering, but you could read or watch tv.)

Dagwell, after that extended floor time, what comes next? Do I put them together in their newly cleaned, rearranged cage with brand new loft? And trust it to work out? *sweat beads flying off my brow*

Yes and watch them to make sure they don't start doing any major fighting. Do you have the link to the social life page so you know what signs to look for? If you don't then see www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm

I was so lucky with my two boys. We did the bath thing and then put them at opposite ends of the couch. The baby boy beelined straight for the older pig and snuggled up under him. Once we got them together in the newly sanitized cage the big guy strutted around a lot rumbling at the baby and pushing him around. After a few weeks that was over and they are totally fine with each other.

I introduced my boys almost a week ago, now Chewie and dagwell will cuddle up in the wooden house. So cute! atticus is kinda left out though :(

Timothy and Baby Cosmo are together, as of two hours ago.
They met for floor time, and now they're in the cleaned cage. Timmy is being mister cool silent strutting dude, but occasionally he pops despite himself.
Cosmo is pretty much out of his mind.
They're on their own tonight. Don't think Timmy will hurt Cosmo, because the little guy is as fast as lightning.

I hope all goes well. If they do start anything, let them be as long as they aren't causing bloodshed. They will have to sort out the dominance issue.

The next morning: Timmy and Cosmo are doing great. Timmy's doing the Boss-pig strut; Cosmo's admiring the big guy, and following him everywhere.

Congratulations! I'm glad everything goes well so far!

Awww, that's sooo cute!

OOh!! They're so precious!! I wish I could meet them!!!
