Maya has just given birth to three gorgeously cute pups and is now squirming around in the cuddle cup licking them off. I would get you a photo now if my camera weren't out of battery, because it's the sweetest thing I have ever seen.
Imagine how surprised I was to see it happening in front of me! I was sitting on the floor beside the cage, doing some reading for uni, when I heard a rather loud SQUELCH and looked up to see Maya and Saffron both chewing at a little bundle of black fur. I'd expected to wake up to them. I was so excited that when I called Morgan to tell him, I could barely get any words out - I think I just squeaked.
It's hard to express just how relieved I am, given the miscarriage. Based on what I've read, it all seems to have gone well. All three babies are out, and the placentas have been devoured. Maya seems to be fine. The babies look okay to me too, although I can't quite get over how enormous their feet are. I've read that they're born ready to run - does this mean that they can literally run from outside the womb, or do they still tend to lie around a bit first before they find their feet? I ask because they're all pretty quiet. In fact Maya is climbing all over them. Is this okay? I'm a bit worried she'll squash them, but they seem fine so far.
Pigtures coming in an hour or so, when my boyfriend and his camera get here!
