those that have lots of pigs, where do you keep them?

I know on either this site or the guinea lynx site there was a few people that have a large number of pigs and they are housed together. My question is, what do you keep them in? I have 4 boars now and 2 sows. My pregnant foster sow had 6 babies, so I have 13 pigs total. If I were to keep them all, I would want to keep the boars with the boars and the sows with the sows. My cages aren't big enough to do that. So, for herds what do you do? If I had a spare room I guess I could make a huge piggie room, but I don't. Just looking for ideas in case these pigs don't find homes right away or at all.

We have a 5 level condo. Each level is equivalent to a 2x5 C&C cage. We used a wooden frame and grids around the outside for the doors and coroplast for a base.

We have 2 pigs in each level.

It also helps if you have really large spare rooms. My room is in the basement and there are no drafts or anything and my bedroom is something like 25x15 feet, so I have lots of room. I could actually easily make a 10x9 cage and still have lots of room for all of my furniture and stuff.

I have seventeen guinea pigs. For me that is eight cages. I'm planning on having seven cages in the shed - which is large. And one in my room. I know some people think having them in a shed is a bad idea - but mine seem fine. I think maybe it is because they are shut off from the rest of the home, but I can't help that. I would not be allowed to have guinea pigs if I had no shed :-( Most of my boars refuse to live with other boars, so if your boars are not already living together, you may find some of them won't be happy living with lots of other males. It depends on the individual pig.. Think about all the rooms you have in your house, is it possible to have a cage there? The only room I'm allowed to have a cage is my room and the shed.

I am lucky as I have a spare bedroom that has been pig-proofed and is now their room that they can free-range in anytime of the day or night from their cage. I have a doorway in their cage which is open 24/7 so they have free run of the room and its neat to watch all 6 of them come out and roam/play.

I have 8 pigs, unlike the other people who have 17! lol
I have a draft-free, lighted basement with openable windows, and is pig proof. They're in a HUGE room, almost the size of the entire house, and they sometimes get free range. I have all my girls in a 4x6 cage, and then 4 boys- one boy is getting neutered (at this time I have 2 boys in seperate cages), and then 2 boys in a cage. I am changing my 4x6 cage to a 3x5x3x7 l-shaped cage with a 2x3 upper level where the girls and the neutered male will have free range during the day, doing that project next week.

What you could do is what Katie had-- Just make condo like houses, and since you want them all together, I'd suggest making them huge, wide and possibly long. It just matters on what space you have.

I used to foster and had 30 + piggies at times. I made use of double stacked C & C cages and cages on and under tables. you can get cheap folding tables from office supply stores like staples.

I have 11 pigglies.

2 brother boars (Mocho Loco and Stuart Little) in a 4X3 C&C cage with 2X1 loft. This cage is on top of a long folding table.

Under the table is a 2X3 C&C (for Spike) next to this cage with a shared wall is another 2X3 cage (For Squirrely). They used to play nicely together but no more. Spike's cage wall had to be raised up another 3 squares with more grids and cable ties. He can climb up and over the 14" grids.

For the girls (Maude, Sadie, Mercedes, Queenie, Kendall and Jackson) and Randy (neutered): we have a 6X3 (on the floor) with two (3X1) lofts on each end. There is a "penthouse" running the whole length of the 6X3 cage. This is made up of a wire shelf that is so strong, it needs no support. I have ramps from the cage to the lofts and then ramps from the lofts to the penthouse.

These cages have taken over the "office" but my husband works off a wireless laptop so he can work anywhere in the house now.
