so just wanted to share some happy news. i've had my two boys (Abyssinians)for almost 2 months now. i swear in the beginning i thought they'd never come out of their hideys! i was determined, however, to socialize and "tame" them.. i held them every night, and sat on the floor with them during playtime. their cage is right next to the couch in my livingroom, so i'm always around them. i squeek at them and back at them, and talk to them alot. well, i have to save, i'm sooooo happy it seems to be paying off!! they're spending more time out in the open, poking their noses in the air in my direction, and not running away scared when i get close to their cage. i think it helps that i put a fleece roof over the "bedroom" (about 1 grid in length), so they feel protected, yet they can see out and around. anyway, for all the encouragement i got from reading everyone's post here - THANKS!! and for those just starting out - KEEP WITH IT!! till later!
