We had can green beans with dinner tonight and there was only a few left. my sister decided to see if the pigs would eat them and they did. They were whole green beans, rinsed, who would have thought.

They shouldn't have them. They've got salt and preservatives added. In general, guinea pigs shouldn't have cooked food.

I agree, I would have never even thought they would have eaten them, I found it weird considering they are so picky.

Guinea pigs will eat a surprising variety of foods. My beloved Chester who did last November had a variety of issues and lost so much weight that it was frightening. We were so desperate to get food and calories in him that we permitted him to have just about anything he would eat. He absolutely LOVED people food and wanted to taste anything we were eating. I'll swear he was a carnivore! I don't recommend this approach for a healthy pig, but he would eat pizza with veggies (no cheese), hamburger, scrambled eggs, etc.
Did he get sick?

I can understand that. When who's there lost all that weight with malocclusion before his surgery, I thought about offering him anything. After the surgery even with all day hand feeding I couldn't get weight back onto him for nothing. When it came back in 3 months at his age of 5 1/2- 6 years old, I knew he wouldn't make it and had him euthanized. But mine will not eat any kind of squash, now it's hit or miss on carrots(baby), they will still eat mini peppers and cucumber and lettuce. Two will eat pieces of banana, all but Chewy will eat apple. All like watermelon, all but chewy likes berries and cantalope. Chewy is very picky. Some days she only eats lettuce and dry oatmeal. I do not know what is going on as carrots were a favorite thing but now i have to take them out of the cage. they all like outshine strawberry and pineapple bars but I only give a nibble or two. I will keep that in mind for other people food if another loses that much weight again. My sister claims they got bored of the same food daily but they were eating anything else. maybe its time to try new foods again.

I read people that raise chickens will scramble some of their eggs and give them to them. Eggs are a perfect food!
