Candypigpig wrote to me on march 7th : I sent charlie a couple of days ago he should be there next week! enjoy! So if Charlie makes it to me, what do I do with him ?

I think it would be best to send him to PM who will send him to T.

Just my thought, don't know how others would feel. Thanks for getting in touch Coiler.

FOTH - I think Teresa and the rest of us have enough to do without worrying about deposits. I aprpeciate the sentiments, though.

Coiler, thank you so much for posting to update us!

I'm really disappointed that candypigpig didn't have the courtesy to update the rest of us on the 7th along with you - not even to respond to the email I sent her (I'm assuming she didn't bother responding to Susan either).

I don't care too much if Charlie goes on or goes straight back to T, as I have already had him. But I think that if anyone had already sent a donation expecting to get Charlie, it would be nice if they did get a chance to have him.

For myself, I'd still like a chance to have Charlie. He can visit the lakeshore and go hiking with me. ;)

I would really like to show Charlie around. It would be a shame to cancel the thing now, Charlie is back now lets just hope he gets to Coiler.

If Charlie was mailed "a couple of days " before the 7th, and he hasn't shown up in Montreal by now....... he must be taking the scenic route to Canada.

I used to sell on ebay quite a bit and shipping to UK, and Canada either one never took more than 4 or 5 days.

I think Charlie is, unfortunately, gone.

Sigh...

Coiler, when I saw that you had posted, I was hoping that it would be to announce that you had Charlie. :(

Oh well. I am in agreement with this_lil_piggy, it does not take that long for a package to go from Vermont, USA to Montreal, Quebec, in Canada.

Fay - IF Charlie shows up, he won't be going backwards to you. I'm sure you would be responsible, but he has already been to Europe. Sending him back would only slow down the whole process even farther.

?? A European GP Adventure ??

maybe a little bit off topic, but:

@ Fay and all the other Europeans or non-North Americans:
We could start Charlene's adventures in Europe. Charlene is Charly's long lost cousin, and she is very keen on traveling and getting to know the different cavy-scenes throughout Europe (and maybe Asia??).
She would be willing to share her adventures with us.

This timing couldnt have come at a more terrible time on my end. These endless remarks about charlie are hurtful. I love this site and visited it every day. Wouldnt it be obvious if i were to have "disappeared" i would have been due to different non-charlie related issues. quite frankly, i'm "disgusted" with all of you guys' impatience. I'm sorry that charlie is not there yet. i'm not the postal service! My mail is all 4 day behind its post date. so. I dont know what you want me to do. but please bugger off on me and the last person who had him....we are the only ones who "messed" this all up for you. dont ruin other's fun too. I wont give my excuses as to why ive been absent as they are my business and to you all they are just that - an excuse. So excuse me, but i am sorry. Coiler SHOULD have Charlie by now.

The person who had him before you fully admitted to lying about when he shipped him off and did indeed leave because he was so embarassed afterwards, so no, it's not obvious that if you left it would have been non-Charlie related.

It's been nearly a month since you supposedly sent him out. You've been on here a few times, or someone has been logging into your account, and never said anything to defend yourself one way or another. Combine that with not answering people's emails or responding at all when I've seen you on AIM and said something to you a few times, and things look a bit suspicious.

If you're having a rough time right now, I'm sorry for that, but if you've taken the time to log on, you could have said something. If Charlie shows up on Coiler's doorstep some day with a postmark when you supposedly sent him, I'll be the first to wholeheartedly apologize to you.

It is equally as hurtful and disgusting for the people who have put their time, effort, and money into this, to see Charlie continue to go missing throughout his travels. I don't think ANYTHING was obvious one way or another, which is why if you had the time to log on, which you did do, it was important for you to have dropped a PM, email, or reply to someone here and let them know something. I think people were very fair with you up until the point that you just simply left everyone hanging.
Feb 5, you asked to keep Charlie longer due to weather.
You were answered in friendly and understanding manner by several people telling you that was fine. You replied back with promises of pictures etc.

You never posted pictures, told of his travels, or even commented on the thread again until Feb 22 In response to everyone asking where is charlie? you reply that you got him back with a return sticker and would be putting him back into the mail again. And then......nothing.
Still, no one said one accusing or harsh thing until March 5 when you still hadn't replied, updated, uttered a word on the forums or answered any correspondence from moderators, yet you had been logged on the forums once or twice. How do you honestly think people could react to that?
No one wanted to be pessimistic, think the worst of you, or hurt you......but you have to accept some responsibility for leaving everyone to stew and assume. As I said before.....

if I knew I was the last one that had Charlie, and I logged on, one of the first things I would do is check to see if he had arrived to his next destination, or give some sort of an update. The fact that the last participant logged on 5 days ago and failed to do one or the other is unacceptable, and there really is no good excuse for it.

If something came up and you couldn't mail him back out on time, you were short on cash and haven't been able to send him.........whatever. But at least have the common courtesy to inform those involved--someone involved-- so everyone isn't sitting left wondering. I think we can all be understanding that things happen..... but the avoidance and lack of information is infuriating.

I am sorry for whatever has been going on with you, and I am sorry you were hurt, but I think you equally owe an apology--not for Charlie being missing, but for your lack of correspondences in this situation.

I wont give my excuses as to why ive been absent as they are my business and to you all they are just that - an excuse.
I think that is a real s@@tty thing to say to all the people that gave you leniency because of weather, and returned postage problems, and then have tried to be understanding and patient for OVER A MONTH while you left them to draw their own conclusions.

A new European adventure with Charlene???

@ Fay and all the non-North Americans:
Maybe we should open a new thread for Charlene in The International Guinea Pig Adventure to discuss, who, if, and how we could make it possible for Charlene to go traveling and share her adventures.
As I am not sure about how to do it the best way and I see the difficulties that happened to Charly ...

Whatever. Any thing i say will fall on deaf or "pissed" ears. I am NOT embarassed about not sending charlie as planned. I am how ever sorry that this put a damper on my reputation at guineapigcages. In any case the remark about no photos? I stated before that I have no way to post pictures through my computer. I'll tell you what though. after i'm done packing, done moving, and done being monitored for pre-term contractions, and have my (crosses fingers) hopefully healthy baby, and buy a new computer. I'll be sure to post the pigtures i still have.

And you could have posted, emailed, or PM'd any of us to let us know about your situation, and most if not all of this would have been avoided. As far as when or if Charlie was mailed off, I guess that still remains to be seen. If you get unpacked and find that his package got somehow shuffled in with your possessions in the confusion of moving, please send him on.

Why did you pull the part about photo's out of all that I said, and focus on it?
I am not asking you for pictures, or badgering you over pictures. Talk about falling on deaf ears --The point was that every one was very understanding for a long time and has not questioned you.......until you simply left them hanging.

I have been in your shoes. My first born son came 11 weeks early, and died when he was 5 days old. With my next two pregnancies I was automatically "high risk", and had to be very carefully monitored and on limited activity because my cervix pre-term dilates--I began dilating at 28-30 weeks with all my babies. So, absolutely I can relate and understand to your problems!! I was trying to explain to you why it was so upsetting...... not because you didn't charlie on time, not because you didn't post pics. In fact I think we could have all understood the lack of updates more had you never been seen online during the hiatus. It upset everyone that you did come here, but you didn't update. That is the ONLY point. I don't think I am so harsh in thinking that that was a little inconsiderate.

All that aside, I don't think there are many "reputations" here. In fact I think the people that even read this thread are narrowed down to just the ones that are participating in the adventure. Most people are clueless to all of this. Quite honestly I am not mad at you. And I can't "think differently of you" since I didn't even know you before this. It just aggravates me that you came on with this sort of attitude like no one had any right to be upset by the fact that Charlie had gone missing, and you were MIA. No more and no less.

As for myself I was a annoyed that CPP didn't say anything. I can totally understand the issues you have had, but if you can log on all you have to say is you've had problems, and update us on Charlie. That's all we wanted. For those of us who still want to participate in Charlie's Adventures, its rather unfair to us. I understand you probably feel you have alot of other things that are more important than getting to mail Charlie, and that could be correct but at the least to try to get him out and to update everyone would be common courtesy.

I
am NOT embarassed about not sending charlie as planned.

Really? Personally, I would be. Or at the very least, I'd be embarassed that I didn't bother to tell anyone what was going on. Because of your extreme delay and lack of communication about it, the whole Charlie project is more than likely shutting down.

Obviously, since you chose to participate, you saw the appeal of this project, so you ought to be able to understand why everyone who is now being denied participation is irritated and frustrated that your delay has ruined it for everyone else.

Everyone's got problems and situations beyond their control; no one is saying that mailing off a stuffed animal should take priority over dealing with health issues or family issues. But you can't deny that you have logged onto the forum multiple times and didn't offer any updates on Charlie ... the forum monitors your activity, so we know when you sign on. All it would have taken was one private message to a moderator or Charlie participant to clear up the confusion. But you ignored all our pleas for information.

Frankly, I can't believe that you had time to sign on to the forum, but couldn't manage to say anything at all about Charlie. I call BS on that.

I also call BS on your righteous indignation, as you were as irritated as everyone else when TipiDancer delayed Charlie's shipment.

Anyways, I guess this is beating a dead horse now ... hopefully (though I have to say doubtfully) Charlie will show up at Coiler's and we can make decisions from there.
