Regarding parents giving their minor children permission to participate in the Charlie adventure ... my vote would be no. I know that's disappointing, but you have to consider how complicated that makes everything. We have no real way to verify whether or not it's actually a parent/grandparent sending an email giving permission. Plus, that's more work for either Teresa to deal with or one of the moderators to deal with. This is PMs and Daftscotslass's project, though, so they need to weigh in on it.

To be honest while I hate that the responsible younger members are missing out (and it's only thanks to a younger member, Laura, that this was able to go on after the first mishap) I can't see a way to ensure that both Charlie keeps moving and minors are protected. There would be almost no way for us to say for certain a "permission" email was from the person's parents/carers like Susan says and overall would just be far too much work.

I really, really hate that the minority have spoiled it for the rest but I can't see any other way around it.

What if my grandmother made her own account? She lives at a different address, and she would be the one making it and posting from it, I wouldn't have any access to it or anything..

I don't know about having your grandmother make her own account. It kind of seems unfair to the other younger members who don't have a family member who could make a separate account. Plus, member have to be members for a certain amount of time before they can be added to the Charlie program anyways. Daft, PM, what do you think about that?

I just think that to be as fair as possible, we have to say no minors without any exceptions.

Although I'm not in the Charlie program, I don't necessarily agree with limiting ALL minors. How do you know someone over 18 is responsible enough to keep Charlie along? There may be some people under 18 that are more mature than the adults.

Sorry about that Aertyn. I'll add you to the list the next time we post a revised itinerary. It will be well before Charlie is supposed to come to you.

As far as having another family member create an account, so a minor could participate, that would really be like any other new forum member. To join the "Charlie Adventure" any new member would need to be active for at least a month before being added to the list. If a family member is interested in the forum, wants to learn about animals and their proper care, and wants to be added to the list, I don't personally see any reason why that would be a problem. What I don't want to see happen is that someone is active for a month, gets added to the list, and then we never hear from them again. If that happens, they will be taken off of the Charlie itinerary.

I just added myself to Charlie's Map.... I'm in Lincoln, Mo.. not much here, but if he arrives at the right time I'd love to take him to the Missouri State Fair....

Anyway, where do I make a donation at? And where do I put in my actual mailing address? Was I supposed to do that on the map? I just put my city and state in. Let me know, I'd love to show Charlie around and give him a stamp!

Charlie went to a one year old's birthday party with me! That was fun! I wanted to take him to my prenatal visit on the 8th but I think thats stretching my time a bit! I'll update more later! Ciao!

I would like to join in and host Charlie. Does it matter what the donation is, or is there a minimum? I haven't read through everything to see if he's been to my area but there are always fun things to do in Wisconsin. Will I be eligible then? Thanks!

You'll be eligible on February 9. Charlie won't be getting to Wisconsin for a while yet. I'll pull out my handy dandy US map and slip you into the itinerary in a couple of weeks. Remember though that guinea pigs are herbivores and their food needs to be raw, so no overdosing Charlie on cheese and beer when you get him!

Well if I don't get him till summer I'll show him around Summerfest or State Fair. I suppose that means no Cream Puffs either? Poor thing. I am working on a large construction project in the downtown so I'll show him around that too. We'll have to find him a hard hat...

So how's Charlie? I can't wait to see some more pictures, it's been a long time since there have been new ones in the 'photo journal' thread. Do you have anything fun planned for Charlie for this weekend? I guess he'll be leaving soon, so I hope you have a last fun adventure with him!

Oh my GOODNESS! It is SOOOO cold out side! sheesh. "Feels like -6 degress F" says the weather man...I'm not going to mail Charlie out today but I will send him this week. I figured since I had inclement weather I could keep him till the 8th. He will be sent out on the 9th! Pinkie swear!

Charlie has been hanging out with Sanchez a lot. Charlie attened a birthday party with me and got some neat pictures of him and the birthday boy opening gifts (will post this week). I'm going to have Charlie help me cook tomorrow night so those should be some interesting pigtures!

Let me know if any one is opossed to me sending Charlie out 4 days later. I promise to produce fun pigtures and to add fun things to the pile of post cards and letters!

Considering the weather AND the fact that you're letting us know about the delay, I don't see any problem with you hanging on to Charlie for a few more days. Definitely make sure you get lots of fun pigtures to share with us though!
