hey guys! so as you know, I am getting my guinea babies soon! So this week and next, I will be gathering my supplies. I was wondering where to get cute cheap fleece. Also, I went to petsmart the other day, and couldn't find any GOOD guinea pig food! I FINALLY found Oxbow, on the top shelf.. good thing im short -__- , but it was the adult food. My guineas are babies, and the only reason I dont have them yet is because the rescue wants them to have a few extra days with their mom. Do you think I could feed them adult food and give them alfalfa hay and high calcium fruits and veggies? Maybe they were just out of cavy performance... So, What do you think?

thanks!!!!

I think it would be best to find somewhere else to get your pellets. It's best not to support pet stores in any way, especially the big box pet stores Petsmart and Petco. You can see if there are any pet supply stores in your area--most of them carry better quality food than the pet stores anyway.

You can order some good brands online, like Oxbow or KMS Hayloft.

The rescue should give you some of the pellets the babies are eating now, and you could probably mix them in with the timothy pellets you found.

Thanks! Thats a really good idea! We don't have any good local pet stores on this side of town... actually, no good ones that I know of. I guess I'll order it once I make sure the petstore either does or doesnt have any. The foster said she doesnt have any petstores in her town so she buys the girls' supplies from walmart. I guess it'll be better than Katee right?

Also, for the bedding, they have lots of cute fleece at Joann Fabrics, and there are usually lots of sales; they're often 50% off! I got my guinea pigs' cheetah print and giraffe print fleece bedding from there. Some people also use fleece blankets... I've tried fleece blankets before, but for some reason, they didn't really wick that well... :( maybe I got the wrong type, idk. Good luck! :)

Joann Fabrics has their solid fleece on sale for $4.00 a yard. If you buy solid fleece remnants, it's $2.00 per yard. Can't beat that price....

I don't know if you've got a Walmart with a fabric section near you (I know most of those closed down yeaaars ago, but there are still some that have them!) I've been able to find some super cute patterned fleece for $5 a yard, and solid colors for $2.50 a yard. Otherwise, I'd say Joann fabrics. Keep an eye out for sales. Local craft shops might be something to look for too.
