For some countrys out there it's going to be summer, or it is summer, in summer time you want to keep your piggies cool so this is what you do?

1: For a start you get a toothbrush holder, put some water in it, put it in the freezer over night.

2:Important! put ice in water container's.

Please note this is for temps around about 25 to 35.

cavy alert code1, 35 degrees: (drastic action's) Keep all piggies inside and then keep in floortime pen keep watch them.

cavy alert code2, 40 degrees boiling(drastic action's) Keep all piggies inside, keep in floortime pen and put damp towels for them.

cavy alert code3, 43 degrees really boiling (drastic action's) Keep all piggies inside, in pen's, damp towels and fans or air con.

cavy alert code4, 45 DEGREES DANGER! (DRASTIC ACTION'S) Keep all piggies inside, pen, keep eye on them, put fan on, damp towels and ice holder's.

If cavy get's heat stroke mild version keep in damp towel give drink down throat.(sorry it might sound harsh)

If cavy get's bad version, then get to vet immediately.

To those american's out there....this is celcius, not farenheit.....it took me a minute to figure that out while thinking that coolman is wierd since 45 is very cold not hot.

Thanks for the info thought coolman.

I don't get the post. Can't understand what he has written

He is talking about during hot weather to be careful with your piggies. The temperature levels he is refering too is in celcius. this is probably meant for those who 1) have outdoor housing mostly 2) take piggies outside often or 3) dont have air conditioning or climate control in their houses.

Oh... what the hell does a toothbrush holder look like? I'm ok, temperatures rarely get over 30C here

usually like a small cup with a lid that has holes in it. I guess he is saying to make icecubes with it.

Piglet, I was wondering the same thing. I've got one. It's basically a plastic cup with a lid. The lid has holes in it to put your toothbrush in. You can also get cute little grips for toothbrushes! But I'm not sure what Coolman means. I wouldn't put water in mine.

Wouldn't a plastic bottle work better?

Oooh, ok. That could work.

The highest is gets over here is around 40 degrees. We don't have airco, but I've never really had that much trouble with heat. But if it does get hot, I'll probably be getting a fan & put a cold bottle in the cage.

Oh! Thanks, I know what he's talking about. Yes, a water bottle sounds more practical. I usually have a fan in my room during the summer, so I can probably have that on for my pigs.

We had a very hot sommer here two years ago. "Hot" in Germany means 36-38 degrees (Celsius). Many people (especially in France) died from heat strokes. If we get something like it again, I'll use closed plastic freezing containers, wrap them in towels and put them in the cage. But it's rather unlikely that it will get this hot again. Last summer was all wet and cold.

Our last summer was awful. It rained so much... pathetic summer weather. I got rid of my brick patio a while back, but just in case if it does get hot, I'll make anoter one. Te bricks are cool so they can lie/sit on them.

The best things to cool piggies down in hot weather are plastic soda or water bottles of any size from 16oz.-2 liter filled with water, frozen then wrapped in a towel and placed in the cage where pigs can lounge up against them.

Bricks. I have one 12"x12" patio brick and plan on purchasing about 3 more to use in the girls cage this summer for a nice cool lounging area.

You can use a small fan directed toward but not really directly blowing on the cage and the pigs.

Don't put ice in their drinking water. Just give them nice cool but not too cold water. You may have to refill the water more than once a day to keep it cooler but some of the folks on gl say it's not recomended to put ice in it.

oh I like the idea of the soda bottles.....we have lots of those around here.
