Okay, so last night I was awakened by my guinea pigs running around and making noise. They were doing that squeaking noise and then chattering. They would not be quiet, so I finally got up and checked them. They had everything they needed, but one hidey was flipped over. I righted it, and they kept on fighting. I watched as blue chased Guiness around and around trying to hump and bite him. I finally put up the partition with G on the other side since he is sort of the new guy. Blue then went after Harry the same way. Finally, I took Blue and put him alone behind the partition. At about 7, they all shut up. But here is the thing: I live in a large studio. I cannot have them making noise like this at night. I can live with the sneezing, skin peeling, blisters, and asthma. I can even live with the smell and the expense. But I cannot survive without sleep. Also, in less than a week they all have to ride with me in one little cat carrier 250 miles. If they are fighting, this won't work. Finally, my husband seems to think they were freaking out because of the severe wind and rain storm that we had last night. I think it was dominance. What do I do? Blue is still separate because I can't listen to them any more.

Try a buddy bath, clean the cage and all, try reintroducing them.

I can't, everything is in a box. I guess I will have to separate all three of them tonight if they continue. I just don't know why they would all start doing this now. Besides, after a buddy bath they will still know who they all are. They have been together for weeks now.

That is why I said clean the cage, meaning clean it very well everywhere to take all their scents down, grids too (use vinegar). Even on their cozies, toys, and so on. After the bath their smell is different. Reintroduce on neuter area. You can change some things around the cage for now (not the design) by putting more hidies like boxes with 4 holes (one on each side), things that will make them avoid each other more.

ps: I understand you are moving or smth, but you need to have the things above somewhere handy - vinegar, shavings/fleece, boxes from shopping or so.

My most bonded pairs don't get on when in a cat carrier so I don't think that's such a good idea. I think you should invest in at least one more!

Well, I took down the grids separating them and fed them and no one is making a peep today. Its just like it has always been- we just eat and stick to our own little houses. As far as traveling goes, I guess I can use a box for each of them, but they will be cardboard. Sigh. I am beginning to think I should have stayed with hedgies. They make easier pets.
