as we speak, my younger sister and her friend are building a cavy mansion with like 20 different boxes in tons of different sizes. It is HUMONGOUS! Theyve connected all the boxes like rooms, and cut holes from one to another. it looks pretty cool.

so i had a question. one of the materials they are using is a styrofoam block (the kind you see for packaging computers, etc. usually, it is cut to the size of the object to fill the space between the object and the box and holds the object in place) is this stuff safe for the guinea pigs?

Off hand I would say no. I would think they would chew it. It could cause an obstruction.

obstruction?????? huh?

a blockage in their intestines...like it would plug them up so they can't poop...

yeah i would say no also. for the exact reasons as mentioned above. guinea pigs are natural chewers and will try to chew almost anything they are given. styrofoam would be chewed off too easily and could get stuck somewhere.

yep no styrofoam mansion..... Definantly no styrofoam. Because even with cats you have to be careful when they are around styrofoam.

right, we'll stick to the plain, unglossed, brown carboard

sounds good. do you have any pictures?

maybe you can cover the styrofoam with something so they wouldn't chew on it..? make it as a seating or something..

nah, ill just rip all the styrofoam pieces out.
