General Strange coloured poop

While handling one of my Guinea pigs today, he had an unusual poop which I couldn’t find anything about when I researched afterwards. It was dark orange in colour but not bloody. It was dry also even though I know he isn’t dehydrated. There was also a strange white thing inside, long and flat. It didn’t seem living and was about an inch long, extending from inside the poop. The rest of his droppings appear normal, is this something I should worry about?

Probably not, but a picture would have been very helpful.

It's possible that he ate something that passed in his stool. There's nothing in his GI tract that would have produced anything like that.

I suppose it's remotely possible that it was a sperm rod, but it's exceedingly unlikely. The sperm rods come from the penis, but it's hard to see how the poop could have been wrapped around it.

I'd just keep an eye on things, and if it happens again, take good, close-up, well-lit pictures and post them.

I was able to go back and get a picture, I hope it helps. I hope I never encounter an issue like this again, but if I do I’ll add a picture at the start.

The white thing looks very like a sperm rod (sperm that has hardened inside the penis and is later expelled as a rod). If it is, it's not a problem unless he starts having them all the time -- then they can cause urinary problems. Has he been neutered?

No, he hasn’t been neutered. I looked into it a few years ago but I couldn’t find a place that would do it anywhere nearby. He’s older now and starting to show some signs of aging so I wouldn’t want to risk anaesthesia unless he absolutely needed it. What kind of signs would I notice with a urinary issue?

Straining to pee, wet bottom, odor, sudden weight gain (if the urethra is completely blocked).
