Stolen Money

I was going to go to the grocery store today, because I really need veggies. Well, since I pay for my own pigs needs, I have to work and all that kind of stuff to get money for the pigs. I go down to my room today, look at my money, and it's gone! I only had $15, but that's a lot to me because I, and my pigs, literally live off of money I earn week by week (Can't save up, I don't have extra money to do so, and I don't buy anything for me so all my money goes towards my pigs wants and needs). I am SO mad! I've had over $200.00 stolen over the past 2 years, and we can't figure out who it is!! Everytime I tell my mom, she yells at me "What can I do about it" and shrugs it off. She's usually a good mom, sometimes she buys me groceries if I absolutely need them (even though I still have to pay her back later), but right now she's not home. going with my dad for fathers day. I don't know what to do, because I'm only down to 1 apple for the pigs- and that's not good at all - I need food for them today.

Any suggestions? I don't want to ask my dad because it's Father's day, but do you think it's a must? My mom won't be home until late tonight.

Have you anything edible in the garden? They can have grass, dandelion leaves, apple leaves if you have an apple tree, clovers...etc..

Oh, so they CAN have apple leaves...

Yes, we have grass (hopefully..), and an apple tree... But is that enough for a whole day? I can't take them ou tnow, because I'm just about to leave, and can't go pick grass right now.. I might get home when it gets dark, so I'll just go out and pick more grass and get some apple branches and leaves...

The second day in a row with a meal of grass! They'll thank me...^^

You need to put your money in a safer location. Put cash in a book in the shelf or something. Start a bank account.

That's awful Ruby! I can't believe someone would steal your money.

Aww, sorry Ruby! My Aunt recently had her entire purse stolen, credit cards and all. It really sucked. I'm sure the piggers'll forgive you Ruby. I've done that a time or two.

Try storing it in a book like slap said or like some little hole in the wall place. Works well. Who do you suspect is stealing it?

You can get little boxes or mini lockers with locks and keep your money in their (you can hide it too, hide it while the door is shut just incase it is a sibling) you could keep the key with you or hide that too.

Hollow out a book. Make sure it's a boring non discript book that nobody will pick up. Hint: Glue the outside of the pages (except the front cover and maybe the first couple pages for good measure) together. Then gouge out a hole. Hard cover books work better. Buy one at a yard sale for $0.25. Do not pick an interesting book.

Also here's a site about other ways to hide money and valubles: https://www.divorcekit.com/bestways.htm

Why would someone steal your money?
Who goes into your room or wherever you keep the money?
How about a padlock on your door??
If any money goes missing in my house, (and it's a rare event) everyone is questioned till someone owns up or no one leaves...(and the money get's returned)
How awful it must feel to know there's a thief in the house, sad.

RubyPiggie2, I had the same experience growing up... and my best advice is hide it and don't tell anyone where it is. Don't trust anyone in your house (Mom included). My favorite place to hide money was in the toilet. Put it in a plastic bag and tape it to the inside top of the toilet. It won't be noticed, unless you have a plumbing problem. Second place was under my bed, tucked up into the springs. I would put it inside a little pocket purse and stuff it up there. It might be better to keep your money seperated instead of in one spot, that way not all of it comes up missing. In my case, the person would usually take half of what I had and leave the rest. So my seperated cash would leave the impression that I had less than I did. When I got a car I would lock money in the glove compartment and lock the car. Also, please consider a bank account. Most have free checking with a low starting balance. You don't have to purchase checks, just use an ATM card (don't tell anyone the code). I wish you luck!

I put my REAL money in my underwear drawer! I put anything under $15 in my purse.

Do you know how many people hide things in their underwear drawer? Lots!
Ist about the 1st place a crook will look.

I hide my money between the pages of random books. Most of the time I forget in which books I put it so I have to shake them all out to find some money. It's kind of a good thing though because then I don't spend it all(I don't have pigs yet to to spend it on).

Maybe a local grocery store can give you what they are about to throw away (which isn't rotten) for free or for very little. Just find a produce clerk or manager and tell him what it's for and maybe they can give you a bit. Helps a lot if you know someone that works there.

So sorry to hear that someone steals from you! How pathetic. Maybe you could stow some cash in your pillow case? Or in a shoe? Maybe your bra, heehee.

Good luck.

I agree with Zeander about the store thing. Maybe let them know that you had money but it was stolen and maybe they will take pity and give you some good stuff. Too bad you don't live by me, I would be happy to share :)

Maybe you could set some kind of trap to catch the theif! You might be able to find some 'substance' like that invisible powder which turns hands purple, to put on the money. Then you'll check everyone's hands when you find the money stolen and catch the theif purple-handed!! You might be able to use that black stuff in car engines that's really hard to wash off.

If you have a farmers market you can ask the people if they have any veggies they are throwing away (tell them you have guinea pigs) and they will give you some. I could have gotten a box of like 20+ squash in it.

Really? WOW! But I made a fake bottom for mine... Once I put something in there and my brother found it and he was talking about it but I said
"So, WHAT were you doing in my underwear drawer?!"

I hid mine in the back of a picture frame. Guess that wasn't clever enough. XD

Zeander- LOL! Wouldn't that be a little UNCOMFORTABLE though? Hehehe..

I like the book idea, a lot. Hopefully no one comes on this forum and sees this! (in my household)

I don't have a door! XD I'm downstairs, so we had to make a "wall" made out of a dresser with a bookcase that attaches, a metal closet, and another small white bookcase. Then we have a huge shelf behind that, holding boxes and stuff. My "door" is a sheet! XD I love my room though, cause no one usually goes downstairs and stuff like that. Plus, it's semi-cold.

I'm just really pe-ood about this. I caught someone before, but no one believed me! and wouldn't listen to me... I had my money in a small cup (yeah I know, stupid, I couldn't find a place for the time being), put $20 at the bottom of a LOT of change so that it wasn't noticable, and had this green container RIGHT next to it. The next day my $20 was stolen, and the green container was missing! I went into my mom's fiance's son room and there was the green container right by the door! My mom told me it wasn't enough evidence... But this kid is really hungry for money because he needs it all the time! I really think it's him stealing my money.. Oh well... I have no proof..

Thanks guys, for the info. Once I earn money again (right now I'm going to have to feed off my sister, who has guinea pigs and has a job and helps me pay for supplies), I'm going to put it in a new hiding spot. It's so pathetic that I have to keep changing it!

EDIT-- I do have a banking account, but I'm not allowed to take money out. I even have a trust fund with thousands and thousands in it, but I still can't take money out of my banking account. Dunno why. I'll start saving up literally when I get a j-o-b!
