Is there anything I can do about the smell of fleece. It starts to stink after a couple days. Can I put baking soda over the towels to soak up the stink? Or would that be toxic? Do you guys have any ideas on how to make fleece less stinky, besides adding vinager while washing.

What do you use under the fleece? I use at least 3 layers of towels under my fleece now. Also the fleece needs to be washed and dried 3 times before using the first time. When it gets to day 5 or 6 I smell urine, so I change on the 5th day to keep the smell down. I put 1 to 1 1/2 cups of white vinegar in with my laundry detergent and wash it in hot water.

I also find towels start to stink very quickly. Mattress pads are much better for absorbing the smell. If you want to continue with towels, I think all you can do is wash them more frequently. Is the pee confined to one spot? If it is, perhaps you could put an extra towel there and change it daily.

I'm not sure about the baking soda but I wouldn't risk it unless someone with more experience here says its ok.

Try Nature's Miracle Laundry Detergent for pets, and their other products:

Petsmart.com

Pet Food, Supplies & Accessories at PETCO

I say the same thing. You can call your veterinarian for a faster response maybe.

Also, I wouldn't use newspapers at all, just puppy pads if you have to use either of those 2 things as a layer. Good luck! Nature's Miracle is the best. I use their dog cleanup stain and odor remover, and it works completely well. My Shih Tzu puppy went wee-wee in a puddle on the hardwood floor, and I can dry that up, spray this Nature's Miracle stuff, and dry that up, then when I put my nose to that spot, it smells like nothing but the Nature's Miracle, which is fragrance-free.
