I'd be afraid to try it. I looked it up, and it's dried with salt. Guinea pigs are so prone to bladder stones anyway that I'd worry about the salt concentrating the urine even more, and thus causing stones.

I'd take it back and switch it for just plain kiln-dried shavings.
Thank you so much! I'll exchange them. I'm glad I asked.

My guinea pigs stools are still soft- I'm guessing his gut biome is still messy after having to be on antibiotics-and I've heard one of the best remedies is another healthy guinea pigs poo. At the moment, I only have one guinea pig as I've been holding off until my current boy is back in tip top shape.

So my question is- how would I get a healthy guinea pigs stool and is this something you would even recommend?

I also might try giving him probiotics again. I have the brand Bene-Bac Plus gel, but I'm not certain how much and how often I should give it to him. Maybe 1 gram per day? And thoughts on that brand of pro-biotic? And my final question is should I keep him off veggies and pellets while doing this until his stools are normal?

Thank you!!

Yes, I'd keep off veggies, but not pellets, until his stools clear up.

If he's still on antibiotics, give him a gram of BeneBac 60 to 90 minutes after every antibiotic dose. If he's not, then give him one gram once a day.

Poop from a healthy guinea is definitely a good thing for a guinea pig that's having problems. If you know someone with a healthy guinea pig, maybe you could get it from them. The soft green smelly cecal poop that you get from the anal sac is the best, but guinea pigs aren't happy to donate it. A fresh fecal poop will do if you can't manage the cecal stuff.

Are GEM kiln dried pine shavings suitable for guinea pigs?

It depends. If they're properly dried, they're OK. But if they still smell of pine, they're not.

I slowly reintroduced veggies into my guinea pigs diet, and now his poop is back to being messy and not firm at all. I don't know what to do at this point, but it seems like veggies aren't helping.

Remove all veggies until the poop has been firm for at least a couple of days. Then add the vegetables back, one at a time, 3 days between each additional one, until you find the one that's causing the problem.
