What breed? Special breed of guinea pig?

It looks like a brown teddy to me. My teddy just recently passed away, and she was that colour brown with some white are orange. Not super rare. But I only know about here in Missouri lol, they may be super rare in other places . And my teddy was the calmest guinea pig I've ever held also

Yea I looked all over and no such thing as a smallest breed guinea pig. I think that maybe he a baby teddy.

The first photo looks like a rough haired American because it has a pointy nose. There are guinea pigs that don't have the rounded teddy faces that have rougher fur. It's not rare. It's just a mixture of breeds. Teddy fur was initially a mutation that was intentionally bred for afterwards. I have an American male with the thick teddy fur but I also fostered one that had finer rough fur that laid flatter against it's body like yours does.

Here is another picture I was talking about. Doesn't look like roman nose. This picture is from another person I found online.

A roman nose does not effect the breed, that's just a specific characteristic that a lot of pigs have. And if it's extra shiny it's probably an American satin. If the fur feels a bit rough then it could be an American/teddy mix. The color is a Golden Solid but that is not rare and does not effect the breed. If it is small like you said before, it's probably due to genetics. There are only a certain number of genes that effect the breed of a cavy and they are all fairly we'll understood, there are no crazy new rare breeds.

I don't think the second photo is his guinea pig. The first one is.

Know breeds have different names everywhere but in the uk we would call this a Rex, it has crinkled whiskers and dense fur but it is soft. And as people have said the colour has nothing to do with breed. I have a cream coloured Rex boar and he is very friendly and loves being handled.

Rexes and teddies are two different breeds. They look the same but are genetically different. There are more Rexes in the UK while more teddies in the U.S.

Rexes have the rex allele which is similar to a rex rabbit. Teddies have the teddy allele that causes crimping in the fur. I read that if you breed two teddies or two rexes, you'll usually get American pups. Both genes are recessive so they aren't easy to breed for. Rexes have shorter hair on their bellies and curly whisker. Their fur should never be longer than .5" and is rough. I've read that they tend to be larger than teddies. Teddy fur is a little longer and should be dense and stand upright and spring back after being disturbed. Teddies have a Roman nose. Rex and teddy fur were the result of a mutation.

I need a better picture, if you can get a close up of his face. Does your pig have a crest like area in the frontal part of his head?? If so, it almost looks like it might be a baby agouti brown crested guinea pig. If not, I would say a mix of Teddy/Rex agouti. Alot of times these pet stores will sale Guinea pigs(normally at 3 months of age) The store workers don't usually know the age because most of the time they don't know anything about Guinea pigs (other than what they are told -for sale'n them) I have bought one from my local pet store only because it was (3) weeks old but the worker kept telling me he was (3) mo old! I knew he wasn't because he still had a bit of his umbilical cord attached(most people don't even notice things like this) & he was quite tiny. Smaller than the others.

definitely a mixed. Probably will be able to tell more when it gets a bit bigger too.
