My husband is bound and determined that we are going to start a garden and grow our own veggies for our pigs. He wants to grow the usual stuff (lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, etc.) but he also wants to grow things like radishes and bell peppers.

Will guinea pigs eat radishes? And what about bell peppers? I would think that those things would just be too "peppery" for them.

yes they can eat ball peppers. They are very high in vitamin C and my pigs love them. not too sure about the raddish

Green, yellow and red peppers are actually bell peppers. It's two terms for the same thing. Bell peppers are not at all spicy, are very high in vitamin C and are very good for piggies. Most of them love them too!

Yes, to the bell peppers, but I'm not sure about radishes either. I do have a pig who will munch on small pieces of onion, but then she is the one who like roasted garlic.

I have a friend whose pigs like boiled pasta - again every pig is different.

I think onions are toxic.

The only thing I have heard about onions is they will thin the blood of a dog. Otherwise I haven't heard anything negative and I have only given them to my Smore once. She is a very curious pig and likes to try new things and normally will never eat the odd stuff twice except for the roasted garlic.

You can feed them both bell peppers and radishes. Just feed radishes in small quanties though. About 4-5 MILD radish a week.

Mine do like the leaves of radishes, I tried them yesterday.

Really? Strange.. thats my piggies favourite part of the radishes!

Thanks guys - I appreciate the info! :)

My personal opinion is that bell pepper (whatever color) should be fed daily because it's one of the best sources of Vit. C.

Mild radishes can be fed in moderation if your pig will eat them, avoid any radishes that aren't mild in flavor. Onions are not toxic. You can feed chives, green onion tops and sweet onions in moderation.

I have garlic listed on my avoid foods list. It says they will not poison the pigs but says it should not be fed. Said the same with pungent onions.
