Southern California Holiday Pignic

Time: Dec 11th, 2004 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. followed by vigil for all the pigs we have lost

There will be piggy races/contests, photo booths for holiday pix of you and/or your cavies (greeting card and photos can be printed on site), yummy treats (human and cavy) and lots of neat cavy supplies such as hay, pellets, cozies, etc. Fun for the family. [/font]
[font=Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]If anyone is interested in things like pellets (cavy cuisine), hay or coroplast, please RSVP so we can order ahead of time.

*If you plan on purchasing custom-made piggy (your piggy or you can borrow an OCCH pig) greeting cards, please email me at [email protected] so I can be sure to bring enough printing material (and also not buy too much).

*If you are bringing piggies and you want your piggies to be involved in the race/contests, please email me at [email protected] so we can be sure there are enough props for everycavy.[/font]

same i would travel all the way there from Wisconsin if i could but my husbands in a bad mood about guinea pigs anyway , do they do any pignics in wisconsin?? i wish i could meet up with fellow people that have guinea pigs sigh

It's going to be a lot of fun. I am making some fleece liners to auction off. I know there will be some other great stuff too. This is kind of my anniversary with the rescue. We adopted Scooter at the holiday pignic last year, but it was in November.

Anyone in Southern Cal should definately stop on by.

That sounds so cool. I'm surprised there's nothing about it on the OCCH website. What is the cost?

It should be up there soon. There is no cost just to come. If you would like supplies, or to take part in the raffle, or have pictures taken, then that will cost. So that all depends on what you want.

Glad to hear you will making some cozies. I am making the the Fleece Quilt liners. I am trying to update the inventory of sale/raffle items. Do you know how many you will be making?

Well, stephani brought over three yards, so there will be a lot! lol I forgot that with fleece you only have to make one layer, I was making two because I didn't use fleece, so that's why I asked her for two or three yards! I am still waiting for angie (I think is her name...) to get a hold of penny in reguards to the sewing machine (I don't have one, I did all mine by hand) so it all depends on when/if I get that machine. If worse comes to worse I can use my best friends machine (hopefully) and make at least some. I am thinking...off hand...I can make anywhere between 15-20 ish. I'll cut them out tonight if I have some extra time and I'll let you know how many I have.
Can't wait to see everyone! And I'm gonna bring my rescues so people can meet them (and hopefully get applications for adoptions!!)

WOW...sounds great. I am hoping to have at least four fleece quilts. I don't sew and have never used a sewing machine. My sister made mine but she has a broken shoulder. She is going to walk me through it. We are starting them this weekend so I should have plenty of time.

This should be a lot of fun. I was so glad when I was able to secure the location. I can walk there.

wow! That's cool! It's not that far from me, so that's cool. As a matter of fact...you know that lady that found the pigs in her yard, she thought that someone dumped them there (over by Disneyland...Val said that you went there...I think she said it was you...) I live about 1 minute from there! And her daughter lives accross the street from me! lol

How big are these liners?? I was gonna make some, but it'll have to wait until after Christmas. I don't sew either! lol As a matter of fact, I have NEVER used a sewing machine! I have to have my friend show me how to use it. I always made mine by hand, but they don't last very long! That's why I need the machine! HAHAHA...I'm such a dork.

Really! Do you know if they are back from vacation? I went and sexed all the pigs and got them seperated, but then they went on vacation wit the husbands watching them. I know they are going to be listed on the private surrender list. I need to get better pictures of them so we can get them on Petfinders.

I was going to make mostly 2x3's and maybe a couple of 2x4's.

I would take the pics for you but my digital is broke...lol. I don't know if she's back yet, I know I saw her daughter yesterday, but as far as I know she didn't go with her. I offered to watch the pigs for her, but I don't think she told her mom.

How do you make them?? Are you the one that uses crib sheets with fleece? I think that's an aswome idea.

I use two layers of fleece with a thick towel in between. It is so much easier for my daughter to clean by herself now. The key is to make them bigger than you need. Now that I have one to use as a pattern, it will be much easier. I am going to have to redo mine anyway since we will be upgrading to a 2x4 with 2 1x2 lofts soon.

I will keep trying to contact them.

I just made a loft for my girls!!! I don't have any coroplast on it though, just three thick towels. Did I read that right that we're selling coroplast at the event?? I'll have to ask Val more about that...I need to get some. Mine is falling apart from the previous owners making it ghetto. Anyway...why do you make it bigger?? That's got me stumped...lol

BTW I have been trying to get ahold of the person in charge of the pics from last event...if you know who that is, can you ask them to bring those pics tot he next even too and I'll just buy them then...that way they can just send in the order (I guess they were waiting for everyone to pay...but I'm not ordering any products, only the pic and CD). Thanks!

I think she was waiting for all the orders. As far as I know, they have all been ordered from the lab and should be on their way. I will follow up with her though.
