What does this sound mean? ((broken link removed) )

One of my females does it a lot.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that is there content/happy sound. Mine usually do it when I'm holding or petting them.

My boys do that, at first I though it meant that they do not want to be held. but after I have them secure and confortable and they feel secure they stop.

Cujo does that all the time when he's being held. I kind of think he's not real happy when he's being held and that he's just talking to me when he does that.

I'm pretty sure that's just normal "conversation" for piggies. Although, at the beginning, when the door shut, you can tell he(?)she got nervous as the voice went up slightly in pitch. My pigs "talk" to each other like that all the time.

I think that is also. Goodluck!

Oh slap. Thanks SO much for posting this. Ascot makes this sound everytime I pet him, and I never knew what it meant. I too was going to post a video of him when he was making this sound.

So, is this a pur?

Yeah, both CC and Smores make that same sound when I'm holding them or have them resting on my chest or lap. Best way to know when they don't want to be held is when they look back at their cage and make a whimpering noise like a puppy. CC does that when he doesn't want to be held.

That is a good idea. Thanks for letting us know.

Piglet- I am not sure. I would like to know.

I think it is, but I am not positive.

I'd say it was. Ascot never looks agitated when he makes this noise.

It's a conversational tone and I would say your pig is happy. Mine do it all the time when I hold them.

So, is purring different to this?

Absolutely.
Purring sounds like it's name- a purr. There are mainly 3 different kinds of purrs and they're easily separated.
There's rumble-strutting. This is an act of dominance used by both male and females and used as a "mating call" of sorts by males, when they sense a female is in heat. It's low pitched and a long purr.
There's a fear purr that happens when piggies are startled or scared by something, like a door slamming or loud car driving outside. They are very short and higher pitched. It's usually accompanied by the piggie going stock still then running for the nearest hidey house.
The 3rd purr is what occurs mainly during lap time, but I've seen it happen when they waddle toward food or a favorite cuddle cup. It's a very happy, contented sounding purr. It's in between the first 2 purrs in both pitch and length.
If there are any others, I just haven't learned about them yet.
Hope I helped!

Shaggy made that sound A TON. Chip does it quite a bit, but Rodney barely ever does it.

So then what's this sound called then. Darn, I've always said the ascot's loves to purr... well he doesn't. He loves to make this noise. Oh! Can somebody post how a proper purr sounds like?

Yeah.. I do want to know what it sounds like.

This is all I know. I couldn't find a happy purr.
