Media Some people really shouldn't be allowed to own guinea pigs.

I have no idea which section of these forums this topic belongs in, so I just posted it here. I hope that it okay.

Some people should not own guinea pigs, or any animals for that matter.
I was scrolling through a social media app called Vine, I'm sure some of you have heard about it before. There was one "vine" where a girl ran into her room screaming on the top of her lungs at her guinea pig(s?) Not only that, but the cage that was holding the guinea pig(s) was so small. The cage appeared to be no more than 17 inches wide, or something like that. Why, why, why can't proper treatment be given to these animals? I feel absolutely sick to my stomach when I see things like that. I wish that I could just take those guinea pigs away from those kinds of owners and take them under my wing. Sorry if I sound absolutely nuts, I just really wanted to get this off of my chest.

I think the same question can be posed about the treatment of people, too, and animals of all breeds. There are a lot of horrific conditions that people and animals live in. I think that cage size and issues related to inadequate housing due to lack of understanding of their needs can often be addressed by trying to educate the owner. Cruelty is another issue. That needs to dealt with by enforcing laws or creating new ones.

I can't believe how small that cage is. I mean you see a lot of cages that are inadequate, but that's a whole other level, that's literally the same size in width that the pig is in length! I hope someone tells her that in a comment.

So sad =( I feel the same way about guinea pigs and ferrets. I love animals and do my best to provide the best food, housing, and vet care and I know you guys do too. It's so hard to see animals being mistreated.

The scream made me feel sick. Even though I would not, I feel like locking that person up in a cage as small as she is and have ten people scream at her like that (ten people since Guinea Pig's have somewhat advanced hearing, to make up for their eyesight).

That cage is so small theres barley enough room for the guinea pig to turn around in it!

I had to stop following the rescue I got my puppy from on Facebook. They kept getting in these just horribly abused puppies. Most recently one that someone had attached her leash to their car and dragged her around. Needless to say the poor little puppy was in pretty bad shape. It is always great to see the updates of the dog or cat healing but it was just getting to hard to me to see all of the time. I will just never understand these people.

I've removed the link. Watching videos and bringing traffic to those sorts of things only creates attention for the wrong doer which is what she wants in the first place for posting the video.
