I went to the pet store today to get some Timothy Hay for Lenny because I didn't have the right kind. And I saw something called Hay-Cob. Is this ok for him to eat? I went ahead and got the Timothy Hay, but I was just wondering what others thought.

Also, what are good fruits and veggies to give him? I was thinking about trying some broccoli, carrots, oranges, and apples. Does this sound ok? Are there others that would be better?

Thanks y'all!

Broccoli in moderation is good but it can give them a gassy tummy. Apples and oranges are good as occasional treats. I would go heavy on veggies over a lot of fruits. Romaine lettuce, parsley, cilantro, green pepper....

You can look at this site for a list of guinea pig friendly veggies. Mine eat a huge variety of veggies.

about how many mg of vitamin c should we be giving them through their fresh veggies?

No Veil, your chart doesn't list vitamin c content. Does anyone know a link to a chart that does display this?

Ascorbic Acid is Vitamin C.

te he he...don't worry about it, that chart is confusing at first.

NoVeil, now that thats cleared up, that is a very informative chart

As for the food question: https://www.guinealynx.com/healthycavy.html#dietAs for the hay question, I think that is a brand of hay. Oxbow is the best you can find at the store, but I really recommend (broken link removed). I just got my first order yesterday. Total was $37 for hay that is filling up a 4x3x2 foot area in packed-full cardboard boxes! (That's after I took it apart from the bale, it's not that big when it's shipped) It's fresher, cheaper, and you're not supporting a pet store. You're also getting a huge amount so you don't need to order nore than two or maybe three times a year for two pigs. (Not sure yet, as I just got my 1st batch) You're not wasting gas either! All-around, it's better.
