Hi guys!!! Im probably building a C&C cage when I get my gp but i have a couple of questions. Is it better to put the cage on the floor or on an table? Will the guinea pigs Kick the bedding out of the sides? If they do its better to put the cage on a table right? I really need some help.

I would think a table would be preferrable for the reasons on above link. But my daughters (12 years old but they're really small) take care of our piggies and clean the cage, etc. A table would be kind of high to get at the cage for my girls. They find it easier to kneel beside it to scoop out the bedding, etc.

I was thinking, though, of just using an old coffee table and putting a piece of MDF (medium density fiberboard) on top of it. You can get a piece pretty cheap at home depot, and it doesn't splinter like plywood and it's quite smooth. They will also cut it for you. That's sort of half-way between floor and table top.

cage location

My cage is on the floor, and of course the pigs kick out a lot of bedding. Nothing a shop vac can't take care of, though. I find that my pigs don't mind their cage on the floor. I guess because we walk by there so often, the noise and motions don't bother them. And as soon as we walk by in the evening, when its veggie time, they squeak like mad piggies. However, having them on a table would be nice because its much less bending involved.
