I know that guinea pigs can have a soft toy to use as a pillow and that when it starts to chew on it you have to give it a sock that is stuffed with bedding, but here is something that i thought of. When the guinea pig starts to chew on the soft toy you put a sock on it. But then if it chews a hole in the sock and then starts to chew on the soft toy through the sock just replace the sock with a new sock. And just do this every time that it chews a hole in the sock. And that mean that the guinea pig still gets the comfort of having a soft toy but it is safe from eating the poisonous stuffing. Do the other guinea pig owners think that this is a good idea, or do you think that it is a waste of time and it won't work any way. Please tell me your opinion.

Bye.

well, i wouldsnt even use a sock. once they have ripped their favorite toy, just remove all the store stuffing and put in something safe - like fleece or super soft bedding. no sock at all!

This is what you are supposed to do. Give them the toy if they chew a hole in it refill it with bedding then sew up the hole. You can also have a toy that is a sock stuffed with bedding.

yes, you can, and i think just changing the stuffing would be a lot easier than buying more and more socks to wrap it in

Yes it would be cheeper if you didn't buy a bunch of socks to go on the outside and you don't have to cheak constantly to see if there is a hole.

yes, much cheaper

Ok i will do that when i get my guinea pigs, and only if they actually chew on it?

well, even if they dont rip it up, its always better to just replace the stuffing anyways, just to take extra precautions

What kind of stuffing or bedding should you use in the tow? just cotton or old socks would they do?
