I finished the new fleece liner for Miss Piggy's cage (it's pretty primitive looking - first time and all) and boy does she love it! She never slept in her cozy all night.... she just like to sprawl out on the fleece... it's moments like that when you can give yourself a pat on the back cause you know you did something good!

I understand completely how you feel. Like when you actually see your piggy sprawled out with that sexy pose for the first time, you get such a warm feeling knowing that they are finally coming around and feeling comfortable. Or when they let you pet them the first time. Those moments are worth it all.

Boy are they ever..One of my piggies is justing starting to come around, and it makes me not want to put him down! Good for you on the fleece liner, i[m going to be making mine very shortly..when you guys take it out to wash it, do you just shake it out somwhere like outside? or do you just sweep up the poops and wash?

I dont use fleece I prefer aspen. I tried fleece once, it lasted 2 days. I felt like I was a slave to those poops. I live in an apartment so its not like i can just open a back door and poof there goes the poop. I hated seeing poop everywhere and boy can they accumulate.

What's the difference between a fleece liner and just like a blanket of fleece?

The liners are made like a layer of fleece, layer of cotton batting, layer of towel although some people make them with fleece-towel-fleece, fleece-batting-fleece, etc.

I don't have liners, I just use plain old fleece material or fleece blankets cut to cage size spread over newspaper and puppy pads.

Auzzie-I spot clean the fleece at least once a day, twice if I am home all day. When I get ready to change it out and put fresh fleece down, I roll it up with all the poop inside it, bring the side ends up together and take it outside in the back yard and shake the poop off and then throw it in the piggie basket to get washed. If you can do laundry every week you will need 2-3 changes of fleece. I have 5 changes right now but I only go to the laundromat every 2 weeks.

My piggies love it and fleece is all I have ever used with my girls. CoCo hardly ever sleeps in a hidey box or cozy, she loves her pillows and sleeps on those usually with her head or upper body on the pillow and the rest of her stretched out on the fleece. I don't feel I am a slave to the poop because at the most it takes me 5-10 minutes with a small broom and dustpan to spot clean each day. You can get the small broom/dustpans at the dollar store.

I sweep thier poos everyday at least once unless its really bad. I used to change it every 3 days when I used 2 small dish pans for the girls and it was getting out of hand. I took a cage bottom from a store bought and used it as a litter pan with one dish pan. I jsut changed their fleece today. Now its every 5 days. Its so much better than the bedding. I do what chatty does. You can get a small tank vac and just use it for their cage and nothing else to suck up their poops. Im getting one soon.

Thats an awesome idea... vac up the poop! I'm going to have to look into that!
