Loki is gone. RIP little friend. He was fine 3 days ago. His weight was fine last week when I weighed him so I had no reason to suspect he was ill.
Two nights ago, I noticed that he didnt come over to get any salad. So I offered him a leaf of lettuce, which he sniffed but then ignored.
Last night, I noticed that he didn't come to eat again. Remembering that this was how it started for Trio, I picked him up, checked his teeth - they looked fine. While I was holding him I noticed some tremoring in his back end. His legs muscles were spasming a little and I felt up by his hips and spine.
I put him down to see if he still had use of his legs (it would explain why he didn't come to eat) but his legs were fine. He could walk around like normal.
The next time I went down, I noticed he was straining to poo. I checked his sac to see if he was impacted. He wasnt. I brought him upstairs, mixed up some critical care and syringe fed him some. He did chew on it but I'm not sure how much stayed in his mouth. He did chew a bit on a matchstick carrot, a piece of hay and a little cilantro.
I went downstairs today and found him lying on his side in the cage. I thought he had already died but when I touched him, he moved. I picked him up and brought him upstairs. He was seizing a little bit.
I wrapped him in a towel to make him comfortable. He passed around 4pm central time.
He was my first Critter Corral adoption. He was a cute pig with a very cute face and a nice personality.
So long little buddy. Say hello to Shammy, Peppy, Ollie, Gus and Trio while you are frolicking over that rainbow bridge.
