Hello everyone :) I have a male guinea pig for about 6 weeks now and he was pretty much getting used to his new home, he was interacting with us, eating properly, making happy sounds, popcorning, running around. The only thing he doesnt like from the beginning is petting. I cannot touch him, it was possible only on his head when he was covered in his tunnel and sometimes when he ate. … then the day I had to take him to the vet came as i was unsure of his nose scab and he also had his nails cutted. As we couldnt touch him properly it was really hard to grab him and also he didnt enjoy the time when the vet was holding him. :/ Now i regret this decision as he became much more skittish now, he is not playing so much anymore, he is hiding in his hideout and sometimes taking food to the hideout. On the other hand he is fine with us around but it is not the same piggy anymore. :/ Can please someone give me an advice?? Thank you very much

Sometimes it just takes time, as with all things guinea pig. Just keep doing what you were before and slowly gaining trust. Even my love bug pig used to pout for several days after a vet trip and I had had him for years. Watch his weight, make sure he’s eating and give him time. Keep us posted.
