While Miss Piggy was prego she wouldn't try any new foods... nothing except lettuce and carrots... but since she has had her babies, she'll eat pretty much anything that I put in front of her... she didn't like bell peppers... but now she does... same with bananas, cilantro, parlsey, lots of things! Why? Perplexing to me...

Maybe because she used quite a bit of energy giving birth to the babies she is more hungrier now. Either that or she has become more brave and has decided to try the new foods. Or it could be some unexplained mystery that she only knows the answer to. Are the babies trying the new foods too?

Glad she is eating more of a variety now!

The babies won't touch any new food I offer unless they can manage to steal it away from mom some how (she's very protective of her food) but usually once they see mom chowing down on it and seeming to like it... they nibble at it... I've never actually seen one of the babies eat a pellet though...

They are only a couple days old right? They will eat pellets in time. Have the babies tried hay and are they starting to use the water bottle. I guess some babies take to some things right off and for others it takes times. Maybe you could put one pile of veggies in one area for mom to eat and another smaller pile nearby for the babies to try.

I have one pig (Charity) who loves carrots so much that now I have to give them their baby carrot during laptime or Char will steal and eat all of them. They only get them twice a week, but I couldn't help but laugh as Char got one carrot, ate it, then went back and snatched another one. She wrestled the last bit of one out of Chatty's mouth too.

The babies are a week old today! They all eat their alfalfa and their timmy hay, they all eat their veggies well... and I've seen one use the water bottle properly, the others will start soon I believe, they nibble at the holder and sniff it lots...Oh! and they use thier litter box pretty good too!

Your right it is really funny to watch them fight over the last tidbit of carrot...

Man I can't believe they are a week old already!

Do guinea pigs nurse their young?
When I was nursing my baby girl, I ate and ate, and craved healthy foods.
Could that be it?

You know, I never even thought of that! Yes they do nurse their babies, and I never even thought of her wanting more food because she is producing milk...

After my piggie had babies she ate like a horse.. anything that I put down infront of her was gone in 60seconds flat, this was probably something to do with the 6 babies!

How many babies did she have? And Congrats on them! :)

She had 3...
