Shavings Question

Sorry if this is not in the right place ....
I went out to get a bale of shavings....of which I was told were Kiln dried. However by the smell of them I can tell they are not. They are very strong (and even bother me with my ashtma).

As I do not have money to waste these shavings do you all reckon I could dry them in the oven at the highest temperature and keep an eye on them and stir them so they dry evenly. And IF so how would I be able to tell if they are then ok to use?

You can just put them in something with many holes so that it can dry out. My friend had Pine and was using it for her hamster. I taught her how to air it out. She just puts a cageful of bedding in a laundry basket on her roof(Her window leads to the roof) for about an hour or so. Then it smells just like regular shavings, aspen and Kiln Dried Pine. You should get aspen next time so you don't have to go through the process of airing it out, ect.

you could return them and look for aspen

unfortunately I have yet to see Aspen in the UK...any other UK people want to change my mind on that.
Is it available here in the UK?

what about carefresh or fleece, just a few ideas. But to tell the truthe i used un-kiln dried pine for years and my piggies really liked it , they didnt really like aspen or kiln-dried, as long as it isnt dusty i think it should be fine. even though others will disagree
