Sexing?

Hi All

Luna's pups are 9 days old today, and I've been trying to get them sexed. Unsuccessfully... <sigh>
I thought I might've had 4 girls, then I looked at the Cavy Spirit sexing page and found out that male pups will ALSO have a "Y" shape. (picture #4) Then I started thinking I have all boys. But when I gently pressed above the "Y", there was no presentation of male parts.
Can someone please help me?
I'm going to try to take pics tomorrow and get them posted...the pups usually won't stay still, but I WILL try. If nothing else, I'll take them to the vet for a sexing.

Hopefully their parts will become more evident as they approach the three week deadline. If not, I hope your vet knows what he/she is talking about.

I find it easier to sex younger pigs by feeling crosswise directly above their genitals. If you feel something like a stick, then you're feeling a penis.

Yes, like Amanda said, you can feel the shaft above where the genitals are in the males.

Another thing that might help you is spread the genital area. If it forms a Y, it is a female, but if it forms an O shape with a dot on the top, it is a male. You should be able to feel the shaft at the top of the dot. Have you tried to press gently and downward to get the penis to show?

When holding all 4 pups, I've spread the genital area. And yes, I've tried pressing down above the genital area-no penis presentation. I've also tried feeling above the genital area-can't feel a shaft...but then again they were wriggling around so much I was lucky to keep them in my hands. They best way I can describe it is all of them look like they have a "Y" with a bump/swelling/pimple in the middle of the Y.
Lansford is about 30 minutes from Hazelton, and about an hour from Allentown or Wilkes-Barre depending on what part of either I'm traveling to. It's borderline Carbon Co and Schuylkill Co.
What part are you from? Glad to meet someone in my (general) area.

Just thought I'd let everyone know- I finally found out the sex of the pups!
I have 3 girls and 1 boy.
Here's a recent pic of the group-the boy is 3rd from the left with brown and white markings. I have a thread in adoption-if anyone is interested, let me know.

Oh, and the pups are 2 weeks old, yesterday. Got them checked in time!
