This groomer guy at my work had four guinea pigs, and asked me the other day if I knew someone who wanted some because he can't take care of all of them anymore. I said no because no one else I know has pigs, or I don't think they could take care of them properly. So he asked about the rescue groups...I told him that he should put an add in the paper or online, and post a flier in the window for them. He never did any of that, and I had a feeling that his care was less than proper. Well, yesterday he told me that one of his pigs crawled in between the two bowls and died. I was heart broken...for the pig that is...not so much him (although he seemed to be upset about it...still...) Anyway...what should I do now?? I know that his other three (two females and one male...different cages at least) probably are not happy (He says one bites...not sure what one...wich to me is a red flag). If this were a friend of yours, and you didn't have the space or funds to take them for him, what would you say and do?? I am worried about these pigs. PLease give me some advice guys!!

Can you maybe investigate a good rescue shelter and take them yourself?

Yes I think that would be a good idea. Maybe you could put a post in the adoption forum on this site for him. Maybe there would be some one who could take one.

Try to put it on petfinder and here and look for a good shelter/rescue for them. I would take them but I can't.

If he ever travels north to the SF Bay or Sac areas, I would take them in.

Well, I took care of it today...I asked him again if he was still looking for a home for them, and he said yeah, all of them now. And fortunately I have some friends that might be interested. I'm trying to convince my hubby that I can take them in and find them another home...they would be better off here than there...I think he's softening up a bit, knowing that it'll be temp.

Thanks for the advice guys! I was stressing out a bit over it. It kills me to think of them there, I know he's not taking care of them. When I bought some hay today at work, he was like 'wow, how much hay do you need?' And I was like, if he had four pigs, he would know that the amount that I bought wouldn't last very long....*shivers*

*hug* I'm sorry. This must be hard, knowing how you care for your pigs. People are stupid. I hope you have a good time with them.

People suck.. I am glad these piggies will be in your hands until a home is found. Keep us posted please?

Grrr...second post that was eaten!! Every time I say I'm goingto p. r. a. y. about something my posts dissapear! lol. Is that planned??
I was saying that I can't do anything about that right now because I don't have the money to take care of them if they are or get sick. And someone wise told me that it's not fair to them basically. Great point, although harsh to think about. So as of now (with my sick pig I took to the vet although I couldn't afford to...) I won't be takling them, but I will be P. R. A. Y. I. N. G. for them that something better happens for them. And besides, I would probably want to keep them when they got here...I get attached easy to some of the pets at work and such.

Yes, that is the harsh truth. Sadly. I hope you have good luck with them! Pray -- there! I said it! =)

lol...

Yeah, I am sad every time I think about it, but my hands are tied right now. It kills me. I'm even thinking I shouldn't go look at them because that will make it even harder on me.
