could anyone please give me some information about sows being in season? how often does this happen and what are the signs? i have two sows living together. thanks

Re: season

a couple of signs that a sow is in season is:
1.when you pet her, especailly down her back. she'll tend to arch her behind and purr.
2. she'll begin to act kinda like a male pigge (strut and purr at her cage mates and may even try to mount them).

these i know are just two of the main key signs that a female in the pen is in season. hope this helps =0)

Re: season

what's funny is that one of my pigs always acts like this. I know that she's not always in season. O well. She's a strange girl.

Re: season

lol  . so does my youngest piggie girl, she's always strutting in front of her mommie and purrs to her, lol. and what's ever funnier is that after the youngest piggie starts purring, the mommie starts popcorning around the cage as if she caught a seizure, they're so silly :p

Re: season

Can anyone tell me what "popcorning" means? I see it mentioned several times around the site and I'm so confused!!

Re: season

thanks for the signs of being in season. popcorning is when they do them funny little jumps and twists, mine do when they get excited about something, its usually followed by a run too!

Re: season

Ohh...Okay, I thought that when my guinea pig jumped and hopped around like that, that she was annoyed or that she didn't want to be touched.
