ok my pig (Amish) really gets mad (and I do mean mad) when you scratch his fat round rear area. He seems to enjoy a good scratch on the head, but the hind quarter region-no. He wail and wails and gets all ticked off. Anyone elses cavy do this?

Assuming he has no lice or bugs, he may just be sensitive to this area. My girls enjoy but petting. I dont scratch, I'm pretty gentle with massaging and petting. Maybe you are scratching too hard? Check is butt out for any sores.

I agree with pennick, you definitely should check for sores. Other than that, my girls also like to have their butts scratched, my boys on the other hand hate it. I almost wonder if it's something that all boys dont like. I know that boys have a gland on their rump that females do not have. Could this possibly be why it irritates them? Just a thought.

One of my pigs does not like her hind end by her butt touched. She will make the motor sound, which means she's pissed off. Also, don't rub the hair in the wrong direction.

None of my pigs like anything touched except their head area, not even their backs. They will either run or give their annoyance sound. I have one pig who will turn on you if you touch her back end where as most will just run.
