Scared of storms

The last two days we got hit but a bunch of strong thunder storms. It's been scaring the boys more then me. They haven't been squeeking or anything but they have been running all over the place. I just finished cleaning up the cage from bedding and hay being all over the place. They were huttling under the ramp yesterday when I got home. I petted them a while and gave them some nice crisp cucumbers. They calmed down but we soon got hit about 6 hours later with another one. Hence why I was cleaning the cage right now. They aren't running away from me lately seems they realize that I protect them from the loud thunder and wind.

I'm sorry your piggies are scared of storms. Mine don't care one way or the other.

You could leave a radio playing or a television (the best for different kinds of sounds) to help them adjust. Just shut it off at night so they can have thier quiet time. I found it works great at getting any animal over the fear of storms - partially because it also drowns out the sounds. They adjust to the sounds of music and television within a few days so you will be ready for the next batch of storms ... tis the season for them everywhere.

I once had a dog that was terrified of storms. The radio is a very good idea. Reassurance from you is also a good thing.

My bunnies hate thunder storms. I cover one end of thier C & C cage with a blanket. They like to hide down the dark end during the worst of the storm. Maybe you could try this.

I used to have cats that were terrified of storms (and the vacuum cleaner, for that matter). At the very first sign of thunder, they would hurtle down the hall way and squeeze under my parents' bed. Sooky cats.

My piggies don't seem to mind storms, but we haven't had any big ones since I got my girls.

My pigs are terrified of thunder storms - and so am I, because our village frequently gets struck by lightnings which leaves us without electricity. So we're usually all sitting scared in the dark. *G*
