Atticus, my first guinea pig, passed away today. This morning he was fine and ate his veggies before I left for work, and this afternoon after getting home from work I went in to feed the piggies and he was laying on his side, already passed. It had looked like his cage mate Cinnamon had groomed him around the time that he died. This is the second cage mate the Cinnamon had witnessed passing away(he snuggled Baby Boo while he was passing away until he was gone, it was very sweet to see). Tonight we buried him and baby Freesia next to Baby Boo at my Dad's house.

I've had my piggie for two years now and so attached! I know that feeling of losing a pet its like their family. So sorry for your loss :(. Both piggies are so adorable!

I am deeply sorry for your loss. What a sweet boy, it must be painful for you, and also for his little friend Cinnamon. Cinnamon sounds like a very loving piggie. I hope you can comfort each other in your grief. I missed the story of Baby Freesia but it sounds as though you had a double loss. Peace to you.

Sorry I forgot to mention that Atticus was almost 7 years old.

Freesia passed away this spring when she was just under 2 days old. We kept her in a little box in the freezer until we moved or Atticus passed away, which ever happened first, and unfortunately Atticus will not be making the move to our new house.

Now I currently have 4 guinea pigs.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've had literally two or three dozen guinea pigs since I got my first when I was seven, so I definitely understand. But seven years is great! And it sounds like he had a long, great, fulfilling life with a very loving owner and loving guinea pig pals. And, by the way, he was a beautiful cavy! At least Cinnamon still has three other friends to keep him company; I'm sure he's grieving just as you are.

Again, I'm very sorry. My condolences are with you. Rest in peace, Atticus.

I am so very very sorry for the loss of Atticus..just think of him now, chomping away, on some delectable fresh green grass and clover over the rainbow bridge, running free and chatting up a storm, with all the other piggies that have passed over.

I can't imagine the pain you must feel right now...but please take some comfort in knowing, that you gave him a long and well lived, well-loved life ! Again, I am so very sorry. I hope in time....and with the joy that your current piggies give you, that you will heal and the pain will lessen. My prayers and thoughts are with you..BIG HUGS.

Im sorry for your loss. He is a handsome piggy! He lived a long life and Im sure he was more than happy with you. Thats all a pig can ask for and you gave it to him. Im sure he is running around popcorning and eating all the hay he can eat over the rainbow bridge. Just remember the wonderful times you shared. My thoughts are with you.

I'm so terribly sorry to hear about Atticus. I know how hard it is to lose one of these precious babies. I had to smile, though, when I read that you had another named Baby Boo (as in Boo Radley?) "To Kill a Mockingbird" is my all time favorite book and movie. I love your choice of names. Your boys were lucky to have you in their lives. Please accept my condolences.... Did you know that Dill was modeled after Harper Lee's childhood friend, Truman Capote?

I named him Baby Boo because I got him right before Halloween and he was orange and black, I was going to just name him Boo but added the Baby part because he was small when I got him(and it was cute). haha When he came into the pet store I was working at he was really young and very sick. I got attached to him while I nursed him back to health and knew I had to take him home. He was with me for 5 years and 1 week.

Wow...what beautiful piggies....wow. I love them all and think they all are beautiful but Baby Boo ( I love that name too) is especially handsome, and the expression on his face is just priceless.

That's a real coincidence about the name... :) You gave him a wonderful life and he was very lucky you took him in. Sometimes just talking about or writing about them helps deal with the loss. The happy memories help ease the pain.

I named him Baby Boo because I got him right before Halloween and he was orange and black, I was going to just name him Boo but added the Baby part because he was small when I got him(and it was cute). haha When he came into the pet store I was working at he was really young and very sick.
