I have been looking on Craig's List for awhile to find the perfect one or two male guinea pigs to adopt. Last night I saw two adorable little guys and didn't get a chance to e-mail before the ad was taken down. Today I see the same pair (the one is pretty distinctive looking) but now they are listed in the "for sale" section rather than the "community pets" section, they are no longer in Round Rock but in Cedar Park and now they are asking 40 for everything, last night it was all free. Any suggestions on what to do if anything. I feel angry for the people who gave them up to what I'm sure they thought was a loving home.

It could be that their ad was either flagged and removed or someone warned them not to list for free. If you're unsure, just email them and ask if they are the same guinea pigs that were listed for free in the community section.

I agree - I think I'd email the poster and ask about the situation before assuming anything untoward is happening. Ad does say they're moving - possibly it was flagged because they were free so they've added a fee and perhaps the difference in location is because of the move.

I agree with pinky and paula, send them an email and ask them about it. What was the original ad like?

Very different. Less information and it was supposedly in Round Rock not Cedar Park. The cities are near each other though, so who knows. I e-mailed and asked. There have been a rash of re-sellers on the Austin Craig's List of late though which is why I first jumped to that conclusion. It's getting near Christmas and people need money...

As bad as that would be, it would be a lot worse if they used the guinea pig as a feeder and then sold the cage.

I also had that thought. =(

We have a few regulars on Craigslist who post wanted ads for guinea pigs, rats and bunnies. One of them posts wanted ads for rat racks. It makes me sick.

Well this could mean a lot of things. But on my point of view ;
The first couple rehomed their pigs, thinking they had a good home planned and everything. But this new couple, got them just to resell them. Things like these make me mad. it's awful how people treat guinea pigs, like they're some sort of toy to be thrown around. It's ridiculous.
But Pinky and Paula sound accurate too.
