Griffin passed away early this morning. He had a twist in his intestine, a torsion I think. He didn't eat his vegetables yesterday evening and when Dad went to put drops in his eyes, he didn't want to be held. After he got the pet carrier ready, we took him to a 24-hour hospital. He died there. I'm glad he died there as opposed to at home. I'm glad he didn't suffer like Fluffy had.
I'm glad they'll be together.
Letting go of Griffin will be really hard, harder than when Fluffy died. He was three and a half; it was love at first sight when we rescued him, and Mickey, from a pet store.

We're thinking about getting Bandit (male) neutered and putting him with his mother and sister. It's just an idea. I'd really hate for him to live by himself.
:weepy:

My boy Bongo died of the same thing yesterday. It's horrible that you don't get any warning. Did Griffin make it to surgery? I know you did your very best for him, and I am sure he had a wonderful, albeit far too short, life with you.

Griffin didn't make it to surgery. The vet asperated air out of the intestines. He had a torsion--or a blockage--and he died after that. The hospital wasn't really equiped for surgery. But knowing they did everything they could helps.

I'm TessErin's dad. I will miss Griffin. I had been giving him Ofoxicin for an eye poke he got last Sept. I had developed a daily ritual of him getting his drops, then eating treats while he sat in my lap. He would sit with me until he decided he wanted to go back to his cage, at which time he'd turn and face me, then run up my stomach to my chest.

I just can't believe he's gone. We've treated our piggies so well, and took such good care of them. Fresh veggies every day, Oxbow pellets and timothy hay always at hand. He was perfectly fine Saturday night, ate hay Sunday morning, but sometime Sunday, this all came up. He refused to eat his veggies Sunday evening. Later that night, when I noticed he seemed bloated, and was lethargic, we rushed him to the vet emergency, where he died. Unbelievable. I'm still in shock. This all happened within about 6-12 hours!

I'm so sorry about your loss...I know how bad it hurts.

Rest in Peace little one...
